  1. I guess I'm just surprised there are so many heroes on this board that decry other people's common use of the word "rape" to mean "financially gouge", and at the same time so many defenders of a guy who released a video making fun of baby rape.
  2. I'll try to gather the coherent ideas that I agree with: The progression from each Deafheaven album leaves the listener with no real idea where the next one will go (and its possible they are trying to maximize with this album what made Sunbather so listenable to non metalheads) Deafheaven isn't metal and definitely not black metal (or its black metal for people who dont like black metal/are genre-classifying on vocals alone) - so I understand why metal genre purists will complain Some of the tracks don't have a particularly strong progression for their length Night people does not belong on this album, whether you like the track or not
  3. That review is mostly accurate (jilted harsh vocals over lush post-rock melodies is a bit off/night people doesn't belong on the album) despite how much I like this album as a whole. The writer seems more desperate to genre-classify Deafheaven in their iTunes playlist rather than actually critique the album, though.
  4. oh look, another mega-celebrity. in this case, one who is commonly used to denigrate free thinking by association. You'd be hardpressed to find any ideology I share with that clown. Just pointing out, of all these responses, I haven't read one yet with any merit or substance. sorry for the interruption. back to your regularly scheduled celeb worship.
  5. the guy who posted right above you is buying product Y (just check out his 2018 political lingo!!). i guess my general point is - stop letting Celebrity X determine how you think the world should be, because your celebrity heroes are bought and paid for. it has little to do with which celebrity is promoting left/right or any other side of a two-sided issue, more to do with keeping the two sides at odds. When you are only given two extreme choices, it is easy to pick one. and that's why people still buy into this ridiculous system even after the "qualifications" of our 2 recent presidential candidates were out there for all to see.
  6. actually i was providing you with the definition of "selling out". not sure how i could have made that more clear, other than to say it is obvious that mega-celebs (which childish has become) are literally told what to say/write about (or don't even write all of their material) in many cases, and they accept money for doing so. there are plenty of artists who don't do that.
  7. i remember believing all my celebrity and sports heroes were just espousing their authentic ideals and never got paid to say or do anything. and then i remembered they never said anything divisive before they were famous! Strange how that happens
  8. guys don't worry - it is possible to wade through his potpourri vomit of output to find a few gems (i'd really only give this credit to Atlanta recently) - im just calling him a sellout.
  9. from hilarious Derrick Comedy sketches and quality underground hip-hop to shitty SNL sketches and political puppet hip-hop in just a few short years. my, how the talented have fallen
  10. several tracks in and as expected, chock full of boring, pulsing, repetitive 20teens pop melodies. haven't heard one original musical thought yet.
  11. You Only Live Twice was the best rap album/ep of the last few years. that is not up for debate. it will be hard to top but this deserves a listen.
  12. please dont lump me in with the white knight gape-tards. i could care less what you call yourself on an internet message board.
  13. does loving oneself more than someone else, and having suicidal thoughts, necessarily mean that one has thought about killing that other person? flawless logic, if only in the minds of the egomaniacs of our era. just an offputting notion to kick this whopper of a 24 minute album off. you're no philospher, Ye. NEXT lyrics for reference: I love myself way more than I love you And I think about killing myself So best believe, I thought about killing you
  14. It was completely down for a while. Now that it is back up, the line about autographed/numbered copies is now gone, suggesting the first 500 or more have sold.
  15. this is just a smorgasbord of as-seen-on-the-internet cliches
  16. Wow - with these last two esteemed colleagues weighing in, this thread has become a certified who's who of the VC bicker-squad.
  17. he meant fantano > pad and fantano might have been born female.
