jacobe got a reaction from deadbluehawk in Virgil updates
Before VC, he ran a somewhat successful record label, Suburban Home, that put out some great stuff. On the initial vinyl boom he moved to the forefront of pressing vinyl for labels that didn't have the money or see the need. He created a co-op, Vinyl Collective, to release record voted upon by members - there were a handful of releases, The Falcon, This Charming Man, Jealous Sound, but when it came to press the next LP...crickets. He seemingly took the money made from these releases, all of which were pretty successful, if not very successful, and likely recouped cost +. Some folks got refunds, most got nothing and he made money on the investment of board members.

I got my package a while ago, but just opened yesterday - what an amazingly thoughtful and giving person @curator is! I'll share the picture later, but he really nailed it...so much so that I used the Alamo Drafthouse giftcard last night for 'Rogue One'.

Would love a pressing of 'Still' to come out as well. Had hoped those songs would be on 'Deviations'

It's fantastic. Heartbreaking, hilarious and captivating. It makes 'The Dirt' look like a children's book.

Also, Gremlins is in hand and will ship in 1-2 weeks.

When Gremlins went up, it looked like they had 4000 of them (like Fight Club). Only about 1600 left, so these will most likely be gone by the end of the day.

Dan from Intheclouds/swosostudios. Absolutely best lathes I've ever laid my ears on - I have 13 of them. I can't recommend him enough.

I did not. It was about a 2.5/3 hour drive over from where I was staying so I hit Hop Cat, Bell's, and Arcadia and then drove back.

Got mine today....sitting in the basement waiting to be opened close to Christmas.
Sent mine out this morning, day late thanks to work taking me out of town and an element arriving late, but will be there soon.

jacobe got a reaction from Dominic_ in Pressing a 7" Record: First Dance Song – Need Your Suggestions!
We had friends purchase a Downwrite song for us from Matt Pryor that I considered getting pressed as a wedding favor for guests, but after looking at a drawer full of shot glasses, bottle openers, keychains, etc from other weddings, we decided to take that cost and donate to the local Animal Shelter since 90% of those items are never really looked at again.
I may be reading this wrong as you're looking to have just 1 7" of it pressed for the first dance, if that is the case, look at the Downwrite route on getting a one of kind song and looking into a lathe cut, still something that seems more of a hassle.

This is correct.
To clarify: the label is still a label. You can still mailorder and / or order stuff for your distro. Instead of thousands of titles, it will soon be a couple hundred.
The distro: we ran it for 20 years and that's a long time. It was a huge success and achieved far more than we originally envisioned, as well as fostering other people's labels, businesses, and even a fest! We provided health care. We did it all. Now we want to focus on the label (and other interests).
10 LPs + larger mailer box = 6 pounds. That's the weight I put in the listing. No padding for fees as it's a flat-deal. If it's $60 for overseas shipping, I suspect that splitting will be $30 each. There would be extra labor (time), extra tape, and an extra box ($1.50), so we would have to add $5 for that... so you would be right back at $60.
It would be WAY BETTER for overseas friends to pool their orders together and write us. We can ship 90 records to Europe pretty cheap via other delivery companies. But then you have to be motivated and have a bunch of friends who are equally motivated. Or maybe you run a distro? You can still order a bunch of grab bags.

Read how Tickemaster works. The former CEO wrote an article about it.
Keep trying for tickets after they go up. Refresh because they are released in batches. That's how you have better luck. That's how I got my Philly tickets. But you'll always be limited because more than half the tickets are never available for general sale. Why I never bother with stadium shows. Odds are stacked against you.
