Vinyl Fury got a reaction from Tommy in Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
Having conceded that it just wasn't worth $30+, I bought the CD last week. Today I visited a record store in a suburb I hadn't been to in awhile. Surprisingly, even though they are part of a chain in which the other stores have the vinyl advertised for 25.95, they had it for 21.95. Figured it was worth a shot. After a spin on a VPI, it had its segments of distracting noise, but not overwhelmingly so. Pretty average, really.
Bonus, I found The Mercury Program 'A Data Learn the Language' & 'All the Suits Began to Fall Off' on vinyl. Could not believe it. I've never seen either of them before. Both were dusty and a bit worn, but reasonably priced and cleaned up nicely. Best score in quite awhile.

Vinyl Fury got a reaction from Sad Heart in PO NOW: NORMA JEAN - POLAR SIMILAR
They aren't cheap to make, but they aren't THAT expensive. That record could be sold for $18-$22, and it would have been a couple of years ago.
We've been like frogs in boiling water for awhile.

I'm quite looking forward to this album, but fuck $30. Just fuck that. There's no reason, and I am so sick of this shit.

Vinyl Fury got a reaction from Tommy in The Mercury Program - New Myths EP
Double checked closely and Chez is not a new plating, just has the addition of the United logo. I always hate to see that. I still think it somehow doesn't sound quite as good to me.

Was hoping the Chez repress was done at QRP as well, but it is United.
It's also a new plating. Doesn't sound quite as good to me as the original. Not as much 'air' or presence. But not bad for $12 I suppose. Cheaper than the original pressing, I believe.

Pressed at Quality Records and only $12. It can be done. Kudos to them

Vinyl Fury got a reaction from highfives in Deftones - B-Sides & Rarities
I find the incessant aversion to white vinyl totally unnecessary. Several albums come to mind on white that sound just fine, great even. Including 'Diamond Eyes'. Any vinyl pressing on any color can sound great or like shit. Including white. And gold. It's all digital anyway.

Vinyl Fury got a reaction from Cloudsbelow in DEFTONES- GORE (OUT NOW)
Color doesn't matter as much as the quality of the vinyl, in my experience. Diamond Eyes is on white, and sounds great. Plenty of white records I have sound great, some of them fantastic. There is plenty of black vinyl that sounds like poop, not because it's black, because it's of inferior quality. Warner usually has some pretty good quality vinyl, so I wouldn't be turned off by white on this.
The price, however, is crap.

Vinyl Fury got a reaction from highfives in Order Now: Kaddisfly - Horses Galloping On Sailboats
Hybrid of the two colors. The clear version will be used for the wood boxes. 'Regular' pressing will have a blue 12". I'll let intheclouds divulge pressing info and all that.
The inside of the gatefold is quite nice too.

Shouldn't be long before we see a release date for this, finally, along with an expanded digital release.
In the meantime, Kaddisfly guitarist Aaron Tollefson and I are in a band called Madam Officer and we just released our new 2 track single.
Produced by Chris Ruff (Kaddisfly vocalist), Mixed & Mastered by Kris Crummett (Kaddisfly, Dance Gavin Dance, Further Seems Forever, The Early November, etc.)
http://madamofficer.com - also available in iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, all that stuff.
Check it out along with our debut EP released earlier this year!
I'll have a new Kaddisfly studio video ready for release soon as well ...

Thanks! Their music is serious and amazing and stuff, but I can't help but show how goofy they all are. Especially when we're all together.
The next one should be up in about a week!

They'll give you a discount when you order the vinyl if you purchase the digital version.

Not quite, but indeed special.

Looks like all the ORG colored pressings I have are much more valuable now. Especially Nevermind on blue. Certainly worth keeping though.

Vinyl Fury got a reaction from dickcritter in PO: RIVAL SCHOOLS - UNITED BY FATE 2xLP
While sharing opinions on this stuff can be valuable, people are often too quick to be persuaded or dissuaded. I think it sounds fine. Not quite the revelation I hoped for, given that there was access to the master tape at some point. But, it has 5 extra tracks on it, and The Sweet is as good as anything on the album proper.

Wasn't expecting anything special from my Amazon order, but this is what turned up:
pretty cool.
