  1. I remember hearing about that tour... I got into those bands at the same time, and the tour went to Seattle and I wanted to go so bad because it was my favourite new bands of 2007 on the same bill. Damn
  2. The band that put out the album Kodiak on Eyeball Records last year. Such a good HWM-ish kind of beard rock album, and there was some buzz about them on punknews.org and the like. Then they disappeared off the face of the earth and are on Eyeball's list of inactive bands. I can't find any article announcing their breakup, and I wonder if any of the members are in other bands. Anybody know? Anybody else love this album? It was my #3 pick of 2007.
  3. I say the worst is when people say "vinyl is the plural of vinyl." Fail. Vinyl is a non-count noun. It has no plural form because it's measurable, not countable. Just like there is no plural for "water" or "music" or "air". If "vinyl were the plural of vinyl" then it would be grammatical to say "I bought three vinyl." But it's not because it's not fucking countable. I think I've gone off on this tangent before...
  4. So far I don't like the new album but I liked the last one. Not sure how many chances to give it before I rule out purchasing it...
  5. Tell the prof that the topic presents you with an academic ethical dilemma, and you wish not to write a dishonest paper, because it sets a bad precedent for your academic future. Then ask for his advice. He can either let you approach the subject differently, or he can be a douche. If the latter happens, I'd complain to the dean. I don't mind being a shit disturber. A profound sense of satisfaction comes from winning these disputes.
  6. Wow. How can any self-respecting professor decide to form an opinion on behalf of his or students. My academic instinct would automatically be to disagree with the topic regardless of whether or not I agreed with it. If you're down with being a devil's advocate and a bit of a shit disturber, I would advise you to disagree with the topic and be prepared to stand your ground. Unless the purpose of the exercise is to explore the merits of a different point of view. I once had to do a research assignment and presentation defending the US invasion of Vietnam and I learned a lot from doing it. But I suspect your situation is different, because mine was 4th year history versus 1st year English.
  7. I'm just glad they took it upon themselves to misspell their name in order to let people with decent taste in music know how shitty they are. If only all shitty bands with that courteous....
  8. Not unless you can find evidence that it is. I think it's only available so far as part of the vinyl collective boxset released a year or two ago.
  9. Only hear the middle two. I liked Shorebirds, and B & T might be my album of the year. I'll have to check out the other two. Also, while we're on the subject, I don't know that I've every really listened to Latterman. Where should I start? Startest newest and work back, says I. We Are Still Alive No Matter Where We Go Turn Up The Punk A fine trilogy of albums.
  10. I think Virgil once said he would release all 3 separately. I sure hope so anyway!
  11. Definitely grabbing one of these before it's too late ... if that ever happens.
  12. Some very good music here. I hadn't listened to any of these bands before, but I ordered the Measure and Monikers. May pick up the other two at another time.
  13. I need to hear more of this record. Just the one song on myspace isn't enough to convince me. It may have been, but since I just blew a lot of money on records already this week, I gotta be careful on the impulse buys.
  14. Living Well Is The Best Revenge ... solid pop album. I still listen to it sometimes.
  15. One valid edge paradox could be the big black sharpie Xs on the hands. Putting sharpie ink on your skin every day lets a lot of toxins seep through. Black markers are not safe for consumption...
  16. Sometimes I find it hard to believe a place like Salt Lake City (maybe Utah in general (even exists. And it's not in some obscure foreign country. I have to go there someday with the same curiousity I have to go to North Korea or Saudi Arabia.
  17. I have a Smackin Isaiah era Benefits of Thinking Out Loud CD too. It never occurred to me that it could be worth something to someone. I'd be happy to trade mine.
  18. More importantly will Virgil get the clear/white marble because that sounds really awesome.
  19. A couple weeks ago I posted about Episode 1 of my Wreck The Place podcast. In these early stages of tweaking and fine tuning, I decided on a new name for my website/podcast project, so it's now called ROGUE SOUND. And I posted the second episode, hosted by me and fellow board member and absentee zombie walker Derek. In this episode we play the following bands: Antillectual (Netherlands) Jumpstart preorder! Driving Music (Brazil) Allison (Mexico) King Ly Chee (Hong Kong) Higain Protest (Indonesia) Devil Shoots Devil (Belarus) What We Feel (Russia) Cowboy & The Prizefighter (local band) The website is at http://www.roguesound.ca And the subscribe link is itpc://web.me.com/krysko/Rogue_Sound/Podcasts/rss.xml Hope some of you enjoy.
  20. Hello U. S. & A. I very excite! But I already told you I'll be the first in line for the 31 Knots LP.
  21. Actually I believe this is the battle royal in question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WWE_Intercontinental_Champions Razor Ramon 1 September 27, 1993 New Haven, CT Ramon and Rick Martel were the final two participants in a battle royal on Raw, in which the last two would face off the next week for the vacant title; Ramon won the match, aired October 11, 1993.[33] Shawn Michaels later returned, claiming to be the true champion as nobody defeated him for the title; Ramon went on to defeat Michaels in a ladder match on March 20, 1994 at WrestleMania X to become undisputed champion.[35]
