  1. Times like this I'm just glad to own a copy and not lose sleep over which colour or which pressing it is. Pink and clear sound nicer than the lavender and blue ones I have anyway.
  2. I'm teaching social studies to grade 10 right now and I'm trying to think of some decent songs that deal with the sort of issues related to history, politics, environment, etc and also have clean lyrics. Something to play and discuss when there's extra time in class. I'm not looking for run of the mill anti-Bush songs from the last 8 years but something a little better. Any ideas?
  3. Does anyone know if the Shaking Hands LP already came out? It still says coming soon on the KOD website but I don't know if that's still accurate. I ordered my Banner Pilot LP with that so I'm not sure if mine is in transit yet or not.
  4. I cannot imagine what would possess someone to care... Seriously. It's Reinventing Axl Rose. There's like a hundred variants. Some things the human brain were not meant to know.
  5. Could this be put up for streaming or download? Or maybe it is somewhere? I'm so on the fence with this band, but if I can be persuaded I'll get both since the first one is cheap.
  6. Love this. I see the Foundation LP is supposed to be coming soon. Probably worth waiting to get them both together.
  7. I feel the same way about opinions that aren't mine too.
  8. Besides the Fightstar one, I didn't know any more existed.
  9. Whatever that was on their myspace page, it sounded like garbage.
  10. Wow this stuff sounds great. I'll preorder if the finances permit.
  11. I had pretty bad complications when I got mine out (3 separate infections - 6 years later I can still remember the taste of infection pus in my mouth) but it's still very much worth it.
  12. Poor kid. I remember how drugged up I was after getting my wisdom teeth pulled. It would suck if there were a video of me on the ride home up on the internet. I'm glad I grew up in slightly more innocent times. Nevertheless, lol.
  13. I like knowing pressing info too, but I've never felt like it's the company duty to me to report to me. They don't owe me anything. If I like their product, I'll purchase it, end of story. I don't see why variant collectors think they are so important that they have to be answered to all the time. "We can't press X-amount copies because we might offend the collectors." "We can't press on X-amount of colours because we might offend the collectors." "We have to let the collectors know exactly what they're getting into it because we're obviously forcing them to buy every version of a record we put out." I'm sure the folks at record labels have more important things to fret about.
  14. I understand the desire to collect every variant of a particular record (actually I don't, but for argument's sake let's say I do). But what I don't understand is getting angry and blaming the label for pressing a record on different colours ... the same label that is making it possible for you to buy the product in the first place ... as if there's some binding law that you have to buy every colour of a record. I may as well go get pissed at pepsi for producing so many cans of their delicious soft drink and obligating me to buy so many of them.
  15. I'm under the impression that Deep Elm doesn't have a good relationship with any bands. The grapevine seems to say that they don't do anything for their bands.
  16. Why is it that blue vinyl is more often on solid/marble colour than clear, and red vinyl is more often on clear than solid/marble? I was just thinking how I would I be really into a copy of this record on clear blue or solid red and it's neither. Oh well...
  17. I'll be glad when this is repressed so I can have the trilogy of MLIW records. Opaque gold or clear would look nice...
  18. Did any confirmation come around whether or not "Soft Clicks" was on its way to VC? Is it distributed at all in North America?
  19. I have this too. Don't want it, but haven't looked into doing anything about it yet.
  20. I don't like the idea of paying for downloads. I pay for physical quantifiable product only. Yay vinyl.
  21. I got my 500 Miles LP. The amber/black looks really nice and the packaging is great for the price. Highly recommended.
  22. I agree with the sentiment that collecting (and pressing) a ton of variants is really unnecessary. But I don't agree that vinyl collecting should be "the thrill of the hunt". I don't want to hunt for music I like. I just want to listen to it, and therefore I want to purchase it as easily as possible. And I just want one copy on any color that looks good and sounds good. In a perfect world everything would be in print and available at Vinyl Collective. I already have a job and a bunch of other responsibilities and stresses. Getting the music I like shouldn't be one of those chores.
  23. I agree with a lot of what was mentioned. Rise Against and Alkaline Trio have been on a steady downhill for a few years and in both cases I was hoping for a rebound but both only got worse. Lagrecia wasn't as good as the first few songs suggested. A few of the songs even make me wish a turntable has a "skip track" button. Death Cab's is pretty good, but not as solid as Plans. It has a few great songs though, so overall I'm ok with it. Big step back for The Fear Before, and I hate the abbreviated name too. I would like to add the Hold Steady. New album isn't nearly as solid as the last one. Also, 31 Knots didn't really do it for me this year. Fortunately "It Was High Time..." got issued on vinyl so that's really all I need. I also didn't think Ninja Gun was a good as Virgil made it out to be. I've been on the fence about buying that album since the mp3s first got passed out. Even the new Portugal The Man couldn't keep me interested the whole way through.
