I got a 42 inch HD tv for like 380 that works great. I'm sure you could get a smaller, nice one for a 2-300.

yes! There's no need to get cabs anywhere, and a lot of it is walkable. it also has a ton of awesome record shops, plus some in oakland/ berkeley which are easy to get to by subway AND september is the nicest time of year.

I'm sure it'd suck to leave your GF, but the rest of the stuff can happen anywhere. I've been infinitely less stressed and much happier since I stopped having to worry about money, even though almost everything else is going a little worse.
