  1. This thread is turning into a debate over whether Eminem is good or not, and consequently missing the whole point of the OP.  This individual raises an interesting question, although it may have an easy answer (no one buys them anymore).  But I still like that s/he is asking.

I don't think we are missing the real point of the OP. Eminem= good. New album coming out on Universal= buy it so my boss will be happy.

  2. Between 2000 and 2010 he sold over 80 million records. What a lot of people don't know is that his 2010 Recovery album sold over 5 million copies world wide to date. His 1999 Slim Shady at 9 million currently and that doesn't include the sales of singles from both those albums. What people also don't know is that those record sales from 2000-2010 DO NOT include the 2001 D12 album or 2004 D12 album and do not include the sales of the 2002 8 Mile soundtrack. If you were to add up the sales of his Slim Shady LP, Recovery album, singles sales from those albums and the sales from the D12/8 Mile soundtrack it totals to well over 100 million. He was Artist of the Decade but of course he's not female so it wasn't really publicised.

It really puts things in perspective. It's like this stuff you hear about Katy Perry and Roar and Lady Gaga going head to head. Eminem announces a new album on the Sunday, drops the single on Tuesday, it goes to number 1 for 2 days straight and no one talks about it lol. It's like if we don't talk about it then it doesn't exist, then his release date is the week after Lady Gaga, both of them are on Interscope. Eminem's 2010 album sold over 700,000 copies in America alone it's first week. The album leaked online 2 weeks prior, he never pushed the release date up. The album still sold a massive number but I'm interested to see how the charts go this time round and see how people spend their money. We're not talking about Madonna or The Rolling Stones or AC/DC or someone who's been around 20,30 years. This is a guy that in 14 years has sold over 100 million singles and albums and released nothing from 2005-2009. Most of those sales were at record shops, in the high street, people paying money to a real person, not sitting on a computer dreamover.

Do your research before you say someone sucks in future. I'm all for the Katy Perry's and the Justin Bieber's of the world but they cannot do what this man has done. It cannot be done again. Over 100 million sales cannot be done in such a short space of time. He was artist of the decade. He beat the Madonnas and Britney Spears and Christina Aguileras and U2s. They could not sell the number he sold in 10 years. They weren't good enough to do it. They could not beat the GOAT.

You and the Korn thread guy should get together and go bowling. Can you tell us more about this Eminem and his new album?

  3. "BAGBOY" was shit? You people are drunk. That song sounded like vintage Pixies. Checking out this EP now.

Yeah, I needed to get drunk after listening to that shat. To say "Bagboy" sounds like "vintage" Pixies is an insult to their glorious past.

The "Indie Cindy" song is okay, but I think the glory days are long gone. I guess we will see what else they can come up with.

  4. Just got this in today (Days That Shape Our Lives on Solid Green), and this is how it was shipped. All the way from the UK to California. I'm amazed at how anyone could pack a record like this and think it's okay to ship. Never again.

This is literally how it came. There was no tape anywhere on the package except where he taped a piece of paper with my address on it on the top. It could have fallen out at any point in time. Luckily the only thing that happened is the corners got a little beat up. But holy shit....

You're lucky you even got cardboard. There must be some sort of cardboard shortage in Europe? Once I got a record carefully packaged in one sheet of newspaper. About 90% of the records I order from Europe seem like they were packaged by a monkey with a head injury.

  5. Everyone should have one of these...

I do need to pick this up sometime. Wish I had all the originals, but that adds up these days. I am lucky enough to have The Bags, X, and The Wierdos, which are my favorite of the bunch. Not a big fan of Black Randy.

  6. I don't know how many people on this board will dig this, but if you want to stretch out and try something new, check it out. My "best" description is Nick Cave, The B-52's, and Meatloaf get stuck in an elevator and decide to start a dramatic 50's band. Sometimes the guy sings and sometimes the gal. Record purchase comes with instant DL. They are also a great band to see live.

  7. This guy gets it right:

Seems like someone from the label commented in the comments for that video. They need this feedback and that guy in the video is exactly right. I unsubscribed from the Relapse newsletter and wrote the reason. If enough people backlash against this maybe they will stop doing it. Or I guess you could just spend a ton of money on a onesie and 40 oz beer coozie.

  8. Looks like Marriages got their apartment burglarized in April and now they are doing an Indie Go Go to help them replace their stuff. This definitely sucks, but why should fans pay for their troubles in life? Maybe it's just me, but this shit has gotten out of hand. We all have rough spots and financial setbacks, but bands asking fans to pay for things like a nice tour bus so they can tour with their kids or to help them because their place got broken into just seems like entitled bs. I'm an artist with a decent fanbase, so maybe I need to start an online begging campaign to pay of all of my debt. Maybe I'm just heartless in my contempt for this stuff, but if you needed a heart transplant, then I'd contribute.
