  1. my biggest issue with this album has nothing to do with the music. its the artwork. holy shit, its bad. looks like a cover you'd have seen from a third rate nu-metal band in 2002. anyway, i gave the album a few full listens today and i kind of dig it but its definitely no mer de noms or thirteenth step. so, if you go into it with that sort of hope you're definitely going to be disappointed.
  2. picked up the deluxe red/black smoke last night. new song is good (love the outro) and the artwork is killer. the video is way, way over the top but i think i kind of expected that.
  3. kinda weird to do such a small pressing when they blew through TSY repress / a types / magnetic north. i know people react differently to that sort thing because of the nostalgia but it still stands to reason they could sell more than 350 LPs total of a new record.
  4. picked up the split. listened to that new song 5 times and i love it.
  5. one play through and its definitely the poppiest thing theyve done since TOCS which is kind of disappointing (always really liked that they were one of the few bands that actually got heavier as they progressed) but i guess it was to be expected after hearing "rapture." im gonna reserve full judgment till i give this a few spins.
  6. funny because theres no way the deluxe content is even remotely worth $55. i was on the fence at $30 and ended up just getting the acid green.
  7. mostly only in that the album is pretty much an EP's worth of material. take out the two tracks that are less than 40 seconds each and youre down to 7 tracks. for what it is, i dont hate it but to me it sounds like AN/GUTG if they were thrown in a blender with dashes of the bronx, cold cave, some girls and coliseum. also echo the sentiment that "War" is the best track.
  8. sweet. they put the christopher lloyd version of uncle fester on the album cover.
  9. ordering this from DW is a no brainer. fuck rise and their bundle-only limited colors.
  10. generally speaking, i feel like the "comeback albums" of the last few years have been pretty decent/enjoyable even if they are nothing more than fan service. the one exception is that last refused record though. that thing was just a monumental disappointment. i could see people not liking this record if wes' vocals are drastically different.
  11. i like it quite a bit. heavier than i expected it to be after coloring book. i think itll be a grower for most people.
  12. I think $30 is ridiculous but maybe had they pressed more they could have got that unit cost down more. 500 is just way too low for these "legacy" type of releases.
  13. They could have pressed a lot more of these and still sold them all. Oh well.
  14. interesting. i havent bought anything from them in a long time but i did manage to score all the our color green 7"s individually from their merchdirect store. would be pretty cool to have something show up - even if it does sound terrible.
  15. ...or its just how they decided to send out promo copies of the album. i know theyve done similar things in the past, but if century media is really in on this release i cant see them doing something a little more conventional on a wider scale. heres to hoping, anyway.
  16. i saw them shortly after EYEWTKAS came out supporting deftones on one of their white pony tours. 99% of the crowd didn't give a shit about glassjaw at all. it was a bit of an odd venue to see those bands in (mostly seats with a revolving stage) but daryl still jumped around and the band moved a lot. unfortunately, i think most people just thought of them as deftones rip offs at the time and really hated sitting through them. year or two later i saw them with poison the well either right before or after worship and tribute came out (which is probably one of my favorite shows i ever went to back in the day) and pretty much eeveryone was losing their minds - band included. later on, i saw them in 2011 when they first started touring again and released the two EPs. they sounded good, even with just beck on guitar, but obviously the dynamic was very different. moreover, they really seemed to throw people for a loop by just playing the coloring book ep as the encore. it was pretty obvious even then that they dont really seem to care for the EYEWTKAS material much at all. that aside, my take was that daryl and beck just seemed like older dudes that had mellowed out over time.
  17. i scored an indie exclusive after having already purchased this. should arrive to me tomorrow according to tracking. would like to get $25 postage paid to anywhere in the USA (i believe i paid $32 with shipping). pm me if youre interested. thanks!
