  1. looks like theres only 4 in stock (or theyve limited it to 4 per order). glad to have the records i guess but this whole thing turned into something super lame on their part.
  2. band has never written a bad album. it all rules - and when you hear a song you pretty much know which record it came from. for me, that helps them all hold up pretty well on their own.
  3. only listened to this once but my impression is i like it. i think it needs a few more spins to fully sink in unlike the last couple records which clicked with me real quick.
  4. http://www.theprp.com/2017/01/26/news/new-mastodon-single-sultans-curse-leaks-online/
  5. the hunter ruled. once more round the sun was pretty meh sans a couple tracks. clip sounds good and the art is cool - so heres to hoping this doesnt suck.
  6. to be fair, 10 years ago i probably would have bought all 5 copies just because but as an older dude thats been buying records for a long time - its just not that important to me anymore and ive realized that compulsion to be a "completionist" just doesnt matter. i also didnt buy the live boxset. i think the art re-interpretation is a cool concept. the ashley rose one is killer - and i wasnt familiar with her work prior to this. the stuff she posted on instagram about creating the piece was pretty awesome. the others though... eh. florian looks like he put the most thought into his piece but separate the image from the music and i wouldnt think jane doe. baizley's had the most potential to be completely mindblowing but i think is pretty weak compared to his other work. maybe hes moving in another direction artistically that im just not aware (but damn, purple had some amazing artwork). the hooper and ortiz covers im indifferent to. my point being though that the art/presentation doesnt really make me want to own a live album id probably only spin once. im saying all this knowing i absolutely love jane doe as an album and i love the original art so i admit some bias to the album in its original form. heres my other thing though - and i suppose this is more of a commentary/observation of people buying/collecting records in 2017 now more than anything - but if this came out before jane doe ever received any sort of repress people on here would overwhelmingly bitch left and right about it. and i make that point because it does raise the question of "would the release stand entirely on its own to most people or are people just now in a mode of satisfying their compulsion to "catch em all?" nevermind the amount complaints from people about $25 represses of previously hard to find albums on here - but do a live album with some nice art and nobody really bats an eyelash at it. ill digress from this point though because i totally realize that as long as someone is able to rationalize in their own head that the purchase makes sense - then theyre ok with it - and they're not really doing anything different than i am in determining whether or not i buy a record in 2017. i just happen to be in the minority on this particular release. so, i understand where vucko is coming from. the difference is i just dont really care what converge, or any other band, does with their music or how they choose to release it. it doesn't make me stop supporting them entirely. thats just silly. as it stands, i will be checking out a stream of this whenever its available and buying the hell out of the next full length.
  7. i think a band can do whatever the hell they want with their music but i didnt buy this because im just not a fan of live albums. for me, this would be a "one and done" listen before it gets relegated to my record shelf and then i go back to listening to my copy of jane doe. cool release but its not for me. ill certainly check out a stream of it though.
  8. got my copies of GM and crimson yesterday. havent listened yet but can confirm GM is a 2xlp.
  9. thats how it looks. nope. thats wrong. from their twitter: Yep and they’re going live tomorrow! Our webstore will have a special variant, 180g black will be available at indie retailers.
  10. thats fair. i started buying records in my early 20s (and i turn 33 this year) so ive had a pretty good crack at getting just about everything ive wanted to own. im thankful that my "major want list" is probably less than 10 records or less at this point.
  11. i remember when this album originally came out on EVR. a lot of people really didnt like it but ive always thought it was the best thing this band did. also, nobody gave a shit about the original vinyl release on VC/SH. funny how an albums reception evolves over time.
  12. and rick ducommun (rip) - or at least i think it is - in the background.
  13. RIP. everyone will naturally think star wars when they think of her (as do i) but i also think of her in one of my all time favorite movies - the burbs.
  14. looking forward to hearing the new ep but post-the fragile nin is hit or miss for me as well. If this thing is at all heavy/loud, i will be excited as hell. Kind of expecting it to be a more logical continuation of hesitation marks though (which i liked but doesnt come close to those early records for me).
  15. Excited that good mourning and crimson are getting represses (already have FHTI).
  16. hidden hands is my favorite but undoing ruin is the most well written record they ever did. new song is a significant improvement over what they did on the last couple albums.
  17. Did anyone get an shipping email for their replacement shipment? Just curious because i did not.
  18. everything through undoing ruin was on point. band has never been quite the same after.
  19. cautiously optimistic this doesnt suck since kurt ballou and southern lord are involved in the release - but that last record was truly atrocious.
