  1. these guys were crazy good tonight. they only played for maybe 30 minutes, but played most of Ships, which was cool with me. picked up the two split records which I haven't found elsewhere so I'm pretty excited about that.
  2. if Collective Soul gets pressed, I will scorch the entire fucking Earth.
  3. I actually kind of like this record (especially if you skip "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" and just listen to the cool shit like "Refrigerator Car"), but there's zero need for this.
  4. if they play Ships on friday I'll psyched as fuck. also I'm so glad they're playing early because my friends' band is playing their farewell show next door on the same night. it's gonna be a rockin' night.
  5. if you're judging someone by how they behaved in high school, well, you're probably not going to like a single human on earth.
  6. what is that gif from anyway? (the eye roll one)
  7. just came here to say that jhulud just posted in that other thread what is now my favorite gif.
  8. I challenge everyone complaining about the shade of orange to go to a pressing plant and do a precise match themselves.
  9. If the band is referring to something they plan to do as being "band-approved", then the MOV releases were probably just licensed by the label without consulting the band, which in most situations the label is within their rights to do.
  10. holy shit, this jacket is beautiful. A+ work. sounds nice too.
  11. it was CD-only at their shows last month, so I think it's pretty safe to assume.
  12. that purple one is one of my favorite records I own in terms of both awesomeness of the vinyl itself and also how it meshes with the album art. just a splendid all-around package.
  13. Am I missing something, or is there no album download? There's no link in my order and no download card with the record. I feel like I'm missing something.
  14. wow that /200 came out way cooler than I envisioned. also that UK orange/orange split is so fucking unfair.
  15. Oh man. So I went to this show in like, spring of 1999 I think? It was a small show at a town community center or something in Foxborough, MA. My friend's band was playing, and one or two other small local bands, but also Cave In and Converge. We get there, random band finishes their last song, my friend's band sets up and plays and is awesome, then Converge plays and tears the place up. Awesome show. Then Cave In starts playing, and this is well before Jupiter came out, and I don't know much about Cave In at the time except that they're a metal band, sort of in the same realm Converge or whatever. Anyway, they come out and start playing and their whole set is all space rocked out, and this has to be one of the very first shows where they're trying out what had to have become Jupiter, if not the first, and kids at that show were losing their shit, being all like "what the fuck is this Pink Floyd shit". Cave In is up there playing toy ray guns into their guitars through delay pedals and the whole crowd had no idea what the fuck to make of it. Me, I thought it was pretty cool. I mean I knew very little of Cave In at the time and what they were doing definitely didn't fit my mental image of them, but it was this cool, heavy space rock. But the reactions of the kids at that show were so hilarious. That show was one of my top 5 most entertaining moments. It just cracked me up. I laugh about it to this day. But I mean it's 2014 and you still hear people moaning about how old Cave In was the real Cave In and that Jupiter/Antenna period was when they became pussies and it's not even real music or whatever. Anyway, for me, TAITA is when Thrice started to really find their unique voice as a band. I appreciate the first two records, but I discovered them when Vheissu came out, and from my perspective those records just sound a band with some good ideas that hasn't figured out how to craft those ideas yet. There's some good moments and songs, but I rarely if ever listen to the whole albums, whereas something like Vheissu or The Alchemy Index feels like a complete work.
