They were...pretty bad. Idk if it was the master or the 'recycled marble' variant or what, but the og, which I tracked down later, sounds leaps and bounds better. I have since sold it to an old local member of the board, so am happy for another offering.

I'm sure the variant didn't help, but even I wouldn't blame it sounding that bad on just the gloopy grey and white puke variant

My only real gripe is I wish their live shows were a more even reflection of their discography.

The last time I saw Thrice was on their "Farewell Tour" in 2012. It was a pretty even mix across their discography, based on votes from fans, and a really great show. I haven't cared enough about the last couple albums to want to see them again, but maybe that will change with the new material.

  3. Throwing the dad rock label at anything Thrice did pre-hiatus is dumb. Even though I didn't care for their post-hiatus albums, I still wouldn't call it that. Then again, I'm not the guy who screams "play Deadbolt" at every show...

Alchemy is tied with M/M for my favorite. It's brilliant, and even though they were experimenting, it still felt cohesive. I agree that Beggars was a nice follow-up, but I don't think it was as strong. I may also be in the minority, but I really don't like Vhiessu as an album. It has some of my favorite Thrice songs, but some of my least favorite as well, and it has a really weird flow as an album. It almost would have worked better if they took an Alchemy approach and split it into 2 EPs.

  4. I wouldn't want them to repeat exactly what they did on any of their albums, but I felt like they were on a natural progression which kept getting better and better through Major/Minor. TBEITBN is their absolute worst, in my opinion. Palms was an improvement, but it was still pretty weak. Both post-hiatus albums felt like they suffered from Dustin's solo style and trying to find something that sounded cool with the kids. Somebody was watching too much Stranger Things when they wrote Only Us...

The singles so far feel like they could have followed Major/Minor, which is exciting. I thought they were at the top of their game then.

I’m sure you could have your own made, maybe find other likeminded board members to make it all cheaper (like when a boarder was making weird slip covers for Brand New records).

But just to be clear… you would be disqualified from joining the complete collection club.

Eh, I don't really care about that. I'd rather have the most complete, best sounding set
