  1. With you on Zepplin. Never cared for them and never really want to listen to them on purpose. Also the Velvet Underground. Though I sometimes like cover versions of their songs , so maybe it's a Lou Reed thing. Maybe I was just born too late to appreciate their impact on music.
  2. It's one of the bands or albums that is considered seminal/influential/objectively great. You want to love it. You should love it. You love albums inspired by it. You love the genre it is supposed to be crucial to. It's a band or album that should be right up your alley. You would settle for liking it. But you don't get it. People bring it up and you just kind of nod and feign admiration, hoping no one asks you to comment on specific tracks. Maybe you even have the album in your collection, and listen every couple years in hopes that something will click. But it never does. And so it goes. Mine: -London Calling by the Clash (and pretty much everything else by the Clash) - I actually like the song London Calling, but I have almost no interest in anything else I've heard them do. I try to tell myself it's because I hate reggae. -Loveless by My Bloody Valentine - I should think this is beautiful, and I actually like a lot of shoegaze. But I just think it's boring and hate the vocals. This is meant to be a safe space. We'll see if it stays that way . . .
  3. Reminds me a little of The Dead Will Walk, Dear by the National Lights. Look forward to hearing more. I'll throw out Englishman. Pretty simple folk type stuff, but I loved his last self-titled album (especially the song "Funnel of Love") and just ordered his new 10" on vinyl. http://englishman.bandcamp.com
  4. I think I'm just going to start PMing him asking for copies of nonexistent records.
  5. Just one: The Felix Culpa - Sever Your Roots (thanks, Scott!)
  6. Love this album, but if you can spring for this, you're a better man than me.
  7. http://www.ebay.com/itm/R-E-M-Out-of-Time-SEALED-US-vinyl-LP-1991-Archive-Quality-/231137453429?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item35d0dda575 "ARCHIVE QUALITY." Because that's a thing.
  8. Pete Seeger was the truth. The Weavers at Carnegie Hall is about as good as it gets.
  9. I checked with Aquarius and they don't really have it.
  10. Really getting into this band recently and looking for this album. Would prefer the first press, but would consider second as well.
  11. Hurry up to pay double for a pre-ordered record that won't ship for two months and is still available to pre-order! Free shipping! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kanye-West-808s-808-and-Heartbreak-Vinyl-Record-Pre-Order-Re-Release-Yeezus-/321300735917?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item4acf0427ad#ht_38wt_1238
  12. The first 100 must have sold out per the bundle page: First 100 come with original custom embroidered patches from Andy's wife - SOLD OUT Not sure when that happened or how soon after it happened it was updated.
  13. Is is weird (or just sad) not to have a true white whale? I feel like everything I really want I've seen from time to time, but price has exceeded my desire ton own it. Some have been harder to come by than others, but I landed what was probably my white whale in Felix Culpa's Sever Your Roots on black/clear mix. Manchester Orchestra's Five Stories would qualify, except it's a CD.
  14. Anyone have this and willing to part with it? Seems like in the rare instances I find it, it's from an international seller with ridiculous shipping costs.
  15. How'd you snag the Committment test press, if I may be so bold to inquire?
  16. I'll play too. Roughly in order (kill me if you must): Counting Crows - August and Everything After Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Tom Waits - Rain Dogs Brand New - TDAGARIM Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway The Felix Culpa - Sever Your Roots Wilco - Summerteeth Tori Amos - Boys For Pele Jeffery Foucault - Miles From the Lightning The Snake the Cross the Crown - Cotton Teeth I'm sure I'm missing something . . . Edit: I did - bumped Home Acres for Cotton Teeth
