  1. I don't like Marley either, but to be fair i have a hard time listening to more than ten minutes of reggae music in one sitting anyway.
  2. I like Power of Failing a lot more than Endserenading, even though I feel like the latter is the more popular one.
  3. Check my order in the "impulse buy" category. Liked what I heard of Acceptance and Cassino, so picked thoseup along with YMEAWK.
  4. Had it in my cart, went to check out and now its sold out. Hate when that happens.
  5. 311 is like listening to an already shitty band and an even shittier rapper get run through the gears of large machinery and keep playing anyway. People in my group of friends in high school loved them and I could not stand to listen to them. Also, I find Sublime similarly awful, but for different reasons.
  6. Good to hear. Was worried the packaging would suffer in the repress.
  7. The Wrens - The Meadowlands After searching discogs and ebay for months and never seeing it come up, I assumed it was out of print, only to find that I could just order it from their webstore. Felt like an idiot, but glad to finally have it.
  8. Not a noob story, since it just happened, but made me feel like a noob. Been after The Wrens albums "The Meadowlands" for a while, but never see it on ebay or discogs, and the prices I've seen along with the scarcity of seeing it available suggested to me that it was way out of print and hard to find. Got desperate one night and decided to search the web for copies and it urns out the Wrens' merch store has it in stock and I just got the shipping notice, so I guess it's legit (http://wrens.kungfustore.com/products/2796-the-meadowlands-vinyl-lp-wrn03). Felt pretty silly, but happy ending!
  9. If you believe Michael Stipe, aluminum tastes like fear (E-Bow the Letter). What's up with Papania pulling the race card on Marty in the diner? "You're speaking in riddles, white man." Have to say, I didn't love the ending, though I'm willing to let it grow on me. Basically lots of little things keep bothering me - how did the authorities show up, how did the green ears thing lead them to house, how could Rust hear Errol everywhere in the sprawling Carcosa when he spoke in a pretty quiet tone of voice (If we are to believe he actually heard him). I know there are possible explanations for all of those, but they could have been handled better IMO.
  10. You bought three new copies of the same record you've never heard of and have no intention of listening to? And you won't even listen to one to see if you like it? I'm making a possibly false assumption that you even like music. If you had information on this release, what would you do with it exactly?
  11. Surprised some of these jumped up so quick. I'm already saying aloha to the Aloha . . .
  12. Got my eye on one if these. Interested to see which one fetches the most. T/T/T?
  13. Not sure of it's been mentioned , but I'm surprised Neil Finn's Try Whistling This has never been pressed.
  14. I will be very interested to see how this series holds up when it is all over. Don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed it and there are some really interesting sections, but it we're being honest, a lot of the hype has been built around theories that are not only never going to come true, but that were very likely never overtly intended by the creators. For instance, if, at the end, Hart's daughter and father in law don't figure into it at all (let alone his wife), Hart and Cohle both live, there's no call back to Cohle' daughter, and it's pretty much the Tuttle conspiracy it appeared to be since episode two, is it still going to be held in the same regard? Should it be? For instance, the now-legendary tracking shot was very impressive, but what was the point? It wasn't important to the story (and looking back it's like it was from a different show altogether), and seems, when I look back on it, like a fancy dunk at the end of a blow-out. I'm rambling and should probably stop writing now.
  15. Very cool! But let's get to the important question: Is there going to be a limited clear version available?
  16. It depends on what you think the "overall story " is. If you think it's a whodunit, then I understand. But I think it's pretty clear that the creator/writer considers the murders as merely a catalyst for the story of what the crimes do to the people who investigate it - it's not about the Yellow King, it's about Marty and Rust. In that sense, this advances the story of them more than any other episode.
  17. The Streets - Original Pirate Material
  18. Attorney by day. Sadly also attorney by night. No, I am not available to advise you on your eBay claim . . .
  19. Rewatched the first episode last night and two statements stuck out to me: one was Cole talking about how he keeps a ledger because there are so many details when you investigate the crimes that you never know when one you've forgotten about is going to solve the whole thing. The other is Hart warning about focusing on a certain detail and then bending the narrative to fit the significance you assign to that detail. Which lead me down this (probably stupid) road - what if the "True Detective" is us/the viewer? There are a ton of details are thrown at us throughout this series so far that we keep assigning importance to (Cole's daughter's death, that creepy picture in episode 2, the Reverand, Hart's kids playing with dolls) and we keep bending the narrative to make those important. What if the series is about how difficult it is to really be a detective? We are so used to crime series that say "this is a clue" and then later we find out why it's important. What if, the show is demonstrating how difficult it is to be given all these clues and not know what is important and what isn't? What if half of it never ends up mattering at all, which is what ends up happening when you are a detective - some thing you think are important aren't at all and sometimes some detail you forgot about solves the whole thing? I guess we'll see . . .
  20. So this is basically a not-so-#humblebrag thread? I guess taking the title literally it would be: - Electro-Shock Blues by eels and New Adventures in Hi-Fi by R.E.M., both bought from the same vendor at a record show for $40 total ($15 & $25) and I didn't even get there early. I keep looking for that guy to come back and haven't seen him. - The MO/Thrice split. I was in a deposition that day just hoping it would get done in time for me to jump on the computer and order. It ended with ten minutes to spare, I stayed in the hotel conference room, and snagged a copy.
