  1. What? I have the red and black first press from nuclearblast.de and the main extra is the 12 inch booklet.
  2. Whats different about this release compared to what was available on the Nuclear Blast webstore initially? Is the vinyl sold out in general?
  3. Thats what I said only couple of years ago. I now buy 10% of what I used to. And its not about economy, its just that record prices have doubled since I started 10 years ago and sooner or later you realise that you can buy pretty much the best digital playback system with that same money (99% of new music is recorded digital anyway and is available to download in high resolution for "free") and only cherry pick the essentials on vinyl.
  4. Posted this in another forum, but I will put this here too: Alright, I finally ordered this from elusivedisc (to Europe). I actually bought two copies and asked them to choose these from different boxes so if there is a non-fill problem its not on both. I dont know if they did, but judging by the slight dishing on one of the copy, they must have. But it turns out there is a scratch on Se Lest (B1) and its exactly the same place on my two copies. Is it possible that the lacquer was scratched? If so, this must be the same on hundreds or thousands of copies. The scratch is not easy to see (actually you need the best available light) but on playback its evident (clicking, pretty loud on both speakers) - its in the middle of the song, the quiet part with the keys and Jonsi singing, lasts about a minute or so. Its not on the CD, its definitely a scratch.
  5. There is no guarantee that the repress is exactly the same, anything is possible - the worst one is probably that its given to GZ and some inhouse engineer cuts this from the CD. I still dont get how they can repress this so quickly.
  6. Its not that uncommon though, just discovered on another forum that the Music Matters jazz re-issues which are limited to 3500 copies each are pressed in multiple runs (each run is until the lacquer wears out - 1000 copies or so). If the patch sells out (might take years), they take the next lacquer and press some more.
  7. Can anyone comment whether this and the Five Years box set version of Ziggy are the same cut? As I understand the 2012 standalone Ziggy is all AAA and the box set version is from digital files. This also means the new 2016 standalone version is also from digital.
  8. Listened to Kannon last week, sorry guys, but that is the most shit album I have ever heard. I understand where they were going with this, but it just falls flat on its face. If you have some random electric guitar and some random effect box you can make "albums" like this all day long.
  9. I dont have the clear vinyl but I think the black suites better. Also would be hilarious if the black one is actually limited to 4000 copies. Seems like its sold out everywhere in Europe anyway, im sure there will be an identical repress but the sticker on front would probably be different. Similar case like it was with the last Beck album which first press sold out in about a week.
  10. Never heard the band but if its rock and if its cut straight from a CD by random dude x, it will sound bad. Sometimes mastering and cutting the record is a bigger art than the music itself.
  11. Looking very much forward to this album, first songs sound promising.
  12. I hope that someone puts a vinyl rip of this for download, until then I refuse to believe that this thing actually sounds good on a single LP, it has to be a completely different master then.
  13. They use polylined inner sleeves and their outer sleeves (gatefolds) are not that tight, so thats why its not a very good idea to buy these from the internet. I have bought all my copies from a local record store since they always use couriers and records are in huge boxes.
  14. I agree with most of this list but not with Music On Vinyl. They usually put the most effort into getting the best resolution picture files (artwork) but the sound quality is very poor, at least on every metal record I have had from them (just download some Dream Theater vinyl rips to get an idea). edit: also, people, dont mix Back To Black and Back On Black, completely different things. edit nr 2: judging by the sound quality, Rhino re-issues should cost about 50 USD like those other audiophile re-issues, but they dont mainly because they are backed up by a huge record company. Every Rhino re-issue I have sound amazing (John Coltrane, Pantera, Ministry, Joni Mitchell, The Doors, Ornette Coleman, Ray Charles, Love etc)
  15. Heh, this album (at least the digital version) is compressed=brickwalled to death and Im sure the guitars are distorted among other things like on every rock record.
  16. Just came here to talk about the brickwalling on the mp3 I have, if the vinyl is the same I would never buy this. Birdwell, no disrespect, but you have completely misunderstood what brickwalling means. Its the mastering process done at the very last step where among other things the overall sound level is determined, brickwalling means that pretty much everything is at its maxed level, the quiet parts are as loud as the loud parts.
  17. They were mastered and cut by different people, nothing to do with the factory.
