  1. Like I said on the previous page - I think the Parlophone OK Computer is sold out, and it probably is 100%. I think I saw it being mentioned in a Steve Hoffman forum; also I havent seen it being stocked in a local record store for a while now. That said, I listened to my copy couple of days ago and it didnt sound THAT good, just average. I listened to the Music Matters Blue Note vinyl re-issues before (all AAA) and there really isnt any comparison after that.
  2. Whats in the deadwax of the EU vinyl? Hopefully Chris Bellman initials?
  3. Listened to some if this, without seeing the movie I think Im done buying any more Zimmer soundtracks, this stuff is just getting old. Maybe after seeing the movie my opinion will change...
  4. Be aware that these might sound crap like the first presses. Download vinyl rips to confirm.
  5. Bought another re-issue today (Songs from Before) and the packaging/sound is the same quality as was with the The Blue Notebooks. Recommended.
  6. In another news - is the Parlophone OK Computer now out of print? I think it is.
  7. The deadwax are different for the EU and US variants, so of course its very possible that different masters were used, since the sound is very different on these. This has happened many-many times before with other artists, but mainly when tapes were used (master tapes werent sent to EU or vice versa and thats why the end product wasnt always the same). Also, I havent followed when each of these were released (but I know there were a lot of delays), so its also possible that the first ones are from a CD master and the later ones (like the EU black deluxe which was released in 2016), are with a different master.
  8. Will the record jump out of the sleeve and bite you? Just open it and find out. I dont know whats going on with Deutsche Grammophon or whoever is re-releasing these Max Richter records, I have had surface noise problems with all of them (after multiple wet cleanings), even after getting the replacements. Will pick up Songs From Before on monday and I bet its the same.
  9. Alright, i got a chance to compare the EU/US black deluxe and the regular cover EU black (180g) with very good headphones today and the sound differences are pretty huge. The EU cut is easily 10%-15% louder, has a lot more higher end but is also a lot more distorted (in a bad way). I would even say that couple of parts/songs are even unlistenable because of the insane distortion going on. I think this was cut straight from the CD and the deluxe has a totally different master for the vinyl. I didnt have to desperately hear these differences, they are blatantly in your face as soon you put the stylus on. I also think its kind of worrying that so few people have mentioned this so far.
  10. What is missing here is the information which cut (deadwax stuff) these presses actually are. The EU deluxe black is actually a USA cut. I havent checked discogs (because its a mess) but I think there is a chance its actually exactly the same as the USA black deluxe.
  11. There is always a chance that the sleeves are printed in different places (even if there is only one press of the vinyl itself), so obviously there will be color differences. I tend to collect both the EU and USA presses and sometimes the differences can be great - one sleeve is black, other almost grey.
  12. I bet that there are thousands and thousands of bands still out there RIGHT NOW who would die to get that TDS sound. The thing with HTDA also is that many people think that it can be easily re-done with any software but in reality it was recorded on analog machines that cost a million, literally.
  13. Through the years I have learned this - dont fucking "fix" a 1000 dollar record if you dont even know the correct terms (off-center). Just sell the thing and buy 50 new records.
  14. I havent had the 2011 press for a while now. How would you compare the sound with the XX version? I think it has more air and maybe even tape hiss.
  15. The anniversary edition of Covenant (released in 2013, FDR) was a completely different cut and press (which I guess you missed), and it very likely is cut from the master tape since the sound is completely different than the one taken from the CD (2011 version). I have/ had them both.
  16. Just checked discogs and the 2008 version is cut by Kevin Gray, so no wonder it sounds that good - usually he does the 50 USD audiophile cut all analog from tape records.
  17. There isnt anything to improve on - the mastering is great, all the instruments sound very lifelike, and it sounds better than any digital version I own and have heard since discovering this album 15 years ago.
  18. I dont even know - who owns the right to the albums? Trent or some record companies? I think most of the OOP albums would sell at least 5000 copies each easily.
  19. The anniversary edition of Covenant (also FDR I think) is definitely the best I have heard that album, hopefully this is the same. Im a little worried about the artwork though. The last time they re-released Altars on vinyl (couple of years ago), the front artwork was lifted from the CD and looked awful.
  20. So my local record store is apparently getting these for 10 eur. Whats the regular version again? I see these everywhere for 20 pounds not 10 eur.
