I purchased this at a show in Syracuse, NY in 1994 from Very Distro. I see no information from Unbroken-dedicated blogs, discogs, or the New Age Records site regarding pressing info. The New Age Records info is listed on the insert, as well as on the cassette itself. Cassette and insert itself are in great condition. The cassette case/shell has some scratches on it. We spent two weeks in the late spring of 2016 holed up in our practice space in Boston tracking the record ourselves before sending it up to God City Studio in Salem, MA to be mixed by Kurt Ballou. Mastering was handled by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. Artwork layout/design was handled by Doug Dean from Pittsburgh, PA. UNREST is comprised of 12 songs that collectively push the sonic boundaries of the band outwards in numerous directions while still maintaining a strong foothold on our melodic punk-hardcore roots. The production on the record is a massive leap forward compared to previous releases and it is widely apparent that we took our time trying to get this release right after you give it a listen. UNREST clocks in at 24 minutes and 37 seconds listening time and is packed with everything you'd expect from a follow up to Discontent... hard hitting, no-nonsense, lean punk/hardcore songs that take you on a roller coaster ride of tempos, emotions, and lyrical themes. It's political. It's personal. It's both introspective and a commentary on the surroundings we're submerged into on a daily basis. Overall, it's a collective document for how we view the world we're living in, our designated place in it, and, despite how grim and dismal the outlook may be at this moment, UNREST is a declaration of how we can all work together to make this life better in the present moment and to leave a better world for those yet to come after we're gone. As with all of our previous releases, the packaging for the vinyl release of UNREST is unique and will definitely catch your eye if you have a liking for packaging design and an intricate layout. The LP Jacket is diecut so that the front of the record acts as an empty picture frame, allowing for the lyric insert (a 12x24" double sided full color insert) to be placed into the jacket as one of four 'portraits' on the lyric sheet. Each portrait has a twist on the misrepresentation of the American dream and the things we're taught from a young age to aspire to and value simply because society has dictated as such. For the pre-order version of the LP, the jacket will have a pop up cardboard easel attached so that the album can legitimately be stood up to display as if it was a picture frame. Needles//Pins third LP "Goodnight, Tomorrow" will be out June 30th in Canada (via Mint Records) and July 8th in the US (via Dirt Cult Records). Order at Dirt Cult (100 on coke bottle clear) Stream the record at the CBC A bit about the record: Vancouver power-trash trio Needles//Pins began in 2009 as an excuse for three friends to hang out. Two LPs and a handful of 7 inch singles later the band has come a long way but are still, at their core, a few friends having fun. 2017 sees the band set to release their 3rd LP Good Night, Tomorrow on Mint Records. The record is a progression both musically and lyrically from their older material while still maintaining the hook-centric philosophy of their previous releases. The band has become legendary in Vancouver for wild shows and gruff but catchy punk rock melodies. They draw from classic punk roots like the wiry pop of The Buzzcocks and the gravely anthems of Stiff Little Fingers, but have a unique West Coast approach that would align them with the catchiest of the Lookout! or Dirtnap Records catalog. Though none of the band’s songs overstay their welcome, you’ll find yourself humming one of their hooks days after seeing them play or hearing the record. Recorded with Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung) in Vancouver at Rain City Recorders, the record shows an organic growth from the power pop of their previous two albums. Guitarist and singer Adam Solomonian’s voice is gruffer from playing hundreds of shows, and you can see a richer appreciation of the group’s influences such as Jawbreaker and the Replacements at play in the song writing. Tony Dubroy’s solid bass lines and Macey Budgell’s heavy drumming combine to form a powerful rhythm section that perfectly complement Solomonian’s simple-but-pointed guitar playing.

Listen HERE "When I first heard that Odd Robot was likening themselves to a Southern California version of The Smoking Popes, I was skeptical. I thought to myself, “I know the Smoking Popes, as Lloyd Bentsen might say. And you, sir, are no Smoking Popes.” They’re one of the great bands to combine pop punk and power pop, with great song writing and beautiful crooning vocals. How could any band even come close to replicating that? But you know what? Odd Robot are pretty damn close. They’ve got a very similar sound, blending pop punk and power pop, they’ve got some really catchy songs, and front man Andy Burris’ vocals are nice and smooth. They’re a brand new band from Southern California’s Inland Empire, just starting out. This debut LP coincides with their first shows playing out, which means they’ve been busy practicing and recording in secret for some time, because they’re tight as hell. It usually takes new bands a little while to get their bearings and figure out what their sound is, but this is really well done. The balance is perfect: the band is polished without sounding like sell-outs, and they’ve got an aggressive edge without sounding rough. While there seriously isn’t a clinker on the whole album, there are a few tracks that stand out. “Empty Bottles” is a slower track that’s got a great melody and an arrangement that really highlights Burris’ crooning vocal qualities, as is “Do You Ever Do.” “Summer’s Old” could be my favorite track of the album, so laden with hooks, it is, and with poetic lyrics of lost love and regrets. The closer is the delicate acoustic “Satellite,” which is just gorgeous, with its spare arrangement of guitar and synth behind the pensive vocals.
