TheGhostOfRandySavage
Going off of this, I would like to know why threads like the boobs and ass appreciations were unlocked under the idea of "don't click on the thread if you don't like it," meanwhile posting .gifs gets people banned and threads locked and/or deleted. Just start a dick appreciation thread Or start posting man-boobs/ass in those threads. ;)
jerseydave77
Yep, I've started a number of threads that have already been dealt with because I couldn't find any relevant threads through the search before. Also, internet forums are a totally different thing to what a lot of people expect on the internet, so having snarky replies as soon as OP posts their totally innocent, valid questions does nothing other than help prop up the NO NOOBZ sign and put newcomers off. You do seem like a nice guy but asking us to never sass a noob is going a bit far. We can't end all VC traditions and this is a cherished one. Ha ha. I get your point. If the question is legit it deserves a fair answer.
jhulud
I wish Dave would come out of mod retirement and reclaim his post. I really do think that VC could benefit with the addition of 1 or 2 mods. I remember last time we thought we were going to get a new one and there was a whole thread of people campaigning to become one but for whatever reason, it didn't happen. I don't think there needs to be another campaign trail but there are definitely a few level headed members who never get involved in any of the bullshit that would be more than capable of being one. The reason that whole "campaign" and any consideration for any of those folks got 86'd was because it all got taken as a joke. No one was serious in wanting to be a mod to the extent of being someone levelheaded and being able to remain impartial and all of that. 99% of the people who posted and nominated themselves went in with the mentality that it's all fun and games and having a great time. If you know and want to suggest a few of these levelheaded people you mention, by all means PM me and let me know. Brock N Roll

THIS IS A THING! People complain about so-called lack of moderation when it comes to re-posts etc. BE THE MODERATOR YOU WANT. Instead of saying "Hey you fucking idiot, we talked about this." or whatever, BE HELPFUL. Post a link to the thread that has already been made. If a silly question is being asked, A POLITE RESPONSE WILL END THE FOOLISHNESS QUICKER THAN SOME JACKASS REPLY.
BuzzersonKillwell
Didn't said band member also contribute cat gifs/jokes though? So should he have gotten reported/warned/banned as well? I don't think the content of the post matters that much, more the intent. The same is true for Ashton's questions. Why don't the Boob threads get locked, because the are frequented by people who post boobs and want to see boobs. If the Blink thread was called "Mostly Cat Gifs and some Blink 182 talk" you'd probably be all set. Seems to me the only issue was repeated off-topic posts for the sole purpose of disrupting a thread. But again, I wasn't really active in there so if 100% of the posters in that thread were down with cat gifs and it was all merry-making and sparkles then I don't see what the fuss is about. If that was the case, only juan man can answer your question.
danionly
And a jackass answer would be to tell the person to read the OP or read back a few pages where the answer was already covered? It just makes no sense to me to cater to people who are just lazy.

We can't end all VC traditions and this is a cherished one. Ha ha. I get your point. If the question is legit it deserves a fair answer. Haha, noob sass is fine, just saying that totally legit questions from someone totally new to vinyl internet boards (or just forums in general) answered by straight up single malt top shelf sass posts doesn't do anything for anyone really. Like it was suggested before, helpful pointers to relevant threads is super useful to both OP and other people finding the thread in the future looking for answers. That said I've never found any total assholes on here so... keep it up I guess. THIS IS A THING! People complain about so-called lack of moderation when it comes to re-posts etc. BE THE MODERATOR YOU WANT. Instead of saying "Hey you fucking idiot, we talked about this." or whatever, BE HELPFUL. I'm still enough of a n00b to not know when threads have already been discussed before but this behaviour ^^^ has been the saving grace of a bunch of other forums I visit. abovetheearth
as of late the whole feel and laziness of whats going on around here has turned what normally was a great escape from 'real life' into 'every time i come here id rather have my testicles driven into plywood with wood screws.' seangj

This^ I just think it's silly that this whole issue blew up because people were butthurt over gifs because the thread title didn't say "Blonk + Gifs." Meanwhile we've got minors posting here and nobody seems to take issue with the fact that (what I can assume to be mostly) porn objectifying women is all good in these parts. It just doesn't seem to add up... regardless of content or intent. I mean, if you dig porn, that's cool. I just don't understand why we're focusing and being offended by something as silly as .gifs. jerseydave77
The truth of VC is that every once in a while we all need a reminder that we should all be polite and proceed with decorum. I think a slight course correction to a place that is 99% enjoyable is needed once in a while and hopefully the active members discussing it here, myself included, will set the right tone after we conclude this conversation. TheGhostOfRandySavage
What over and over again? Why will my argument not work? I was asking if those responses are considered jackass responses? was agreeing with you on that part, they shouldn't be considered jackass responses, but they will be. I was referring to having to answer the same question like that over and over. Arguing that people are lazy and deserve a short response will never work though. Guest
I think we need to go over some basic rules in order for everyone to have a good time posting on these boards. Rule No. 1: I rule. lonesomexloveus
It's not a feminism thing, it's a respect thing. That's all I have to say about it though. it irritates me that when a female brings up that something is mildly offensive, or objectifies woman in a way that makes her uncomfortable, a good portion of the time she gets dismissed because men don't want to deal with that 'feminism' crap.
