What were the first 5 albums you bought? (cds/cassette/vinyl)

Recommended Posts

Hahaha. I don't even know how to respond to this. Owning Enema of the State was a pretty big feat with the Parental Advisory and all, which was actually enforced here. Bringing it to the hockey dressing room for pre-game Blink-182 didn't hurt the rep. Otherwise, no friends.

I had to have my friend with a less strict mom buy me the untitled/self titled or whatever for my birthday when it first came out. It's kind of funny thinking back to the days where my mom gave a shit what I listened to.

Eeeshh, all CD - I think it was:

Oasis - Be Here Now

Elvis Presley - Some sort of greatest hits I imagine

Radiohead - OK Computer

The Verve - Urban Hymns

Oasis - What's The Story (got this after Be Here Now)

May have been others but these are the ones I recall buying.

Vinyl was:

The Beatles - Sgt Peppers

ELO - Out of the Blue (double blue vinyl with all inserts, think I paid 99p for it)

The Beatles - A Hard Days Night

The Beatles - Abbey Road

Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Everyone's got me feeling old here. The first 5 that were given to me as gifts...

Vanilla Ice- To the Extreme

Kris Kross- Totally Krossed Out

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- Coming out of Our Shells

Vanilla Ice- Extremely Live

Snow- 12 Inches of Snow

I was waiting for this.  Thanks.

I still have my KK and Snow cassettes.

I believe these are mine.  Looking back to the late 80's/early 90's can be difficult.

- Random compilation of 50's/60's pop (Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Chuck Berry, etc)

- The Beatles - Yellow Submarine

- Arlo Guthrie - Alice's Restaurant

- Random Al Green compilation

- De La Soul - 3 ft High and Rising

Quite a few soundtracks were given to me as well.  A few...

- Walt Disney's Fantasia

- The Phantom of the Opera

- Les Miserables

I can remember these two specifically because I remember begging my mother to drive me to Target to pick them up. Got them both on the same day.

The Killers - Hot Fuss

Gorillaz - Demon Days

There's got to be more. But that's all I can remember. I do hazily remember buying a Black Eyed Peas CD around that time (maybe a few months later), but I'm trying to block that phase out of my life. Other than that, most of my CDs were passed down from my sister and my dad (Anything from Brand New to Buddy Holly). My taste in music grew from there until about five years ago when it began to bloom on its own.

I began to enjoy and appreciate albums as a whole. When I first started buying my own music, the age of iTunes was in full effect so it was individual songs here and there. Not many full albums were being purchased. Quite the opposite for me now.

CD (not positive, but should be pretty close):

Halo 2: Volume 1 OST

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith OST

Banjo-Kazooie OST (found at a Saver's for only a couple bucks! super rare find)

Halo 3 OST

Halo: Combat Evolved OST

Cassette (and I bought these within the last two years!):

As I Lay Dying - "Frail Words Collapse"

Underoath - "Define The Great Line"

LP (slowly over the course of 2011-2013, and all before I had a record player):

As I Lay Dying - "The Powerless Rise" picture disc (came with deluxe boxset, honestly had no idea it played music)

As I Lay Dying - "An Ocean Between Us" [ Europe exclusive | Toxic Green | #1000 ]

As I Lay Dying - "Decas" [ FYE exclusive | Clear w/Black splatter | #1000 ]

As I Lay Dying - "Awakened" [ Grey/Black split ]

As I Lay Dying - "Shadows Are Security"

No way these are actually the first five, but they're the earliest I can remember spending money on.

Limp Bizkit. Significant Other

Matrix OST

Kid Rock. Devil Without a Cause

Bloodhound Gang. Hooray for Boobies

Crazy Town. The Gift of Game

Edit: This list could also be about the 5 worst albums of 1999 haha
