stl_ben
Yeah at the All Star break Kershaw and Wain-o were neck and neck...Post break it is all Kershaw.
whoshotthefrog
Felix won the AL CY months ago, he's got it locked up. Just like Kershaw in the NL Also, holy shit, that video of Stanton is absolutely horrible. Hope he makes a full recovery and he comes back the same player next year. That looked nasty. Even though Felix will probably win it Chris Sale deserves a lot of votes. If he was actually on a winning team he would have numbers comparable to Kershaw. Sale is awesome, his numbers are pretty close to Felix but Sale doesnt have the innings needed and he's on a horrible team. I dont think he'd be comparable to Kershaw though, Kershaw is having one the best seasons any pitcher has had. I dont think anyone is on Kershaw's level though. Sale is unbelievable, fully agree with you on that.

Can't wait to get this started and to finally see Trout in the post season. Plus I get to go to the game tonite and sit right behind home plate for free. travis
ESPN ranked the top 20 pitching seasons over the last 50 years. Some of these numbers are absolutely mind blowing. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11545189/mlb-top-20-pitcher-seasons-50-years
stl_ben
Really wish that Randy Johnson 2001 season would be paired up with Curt Schilling that year....such an amazing 1-2 punch I remember those Diamond Backs knocking out the Cardinals in the playoffs and I wasn't even upset. But kind of surprised that Gibson season wasn't a little closer to #1.....
travis
I think people forget just how good Pedro was in his prime, those numbers are unreal. I think the most mindblowing thing in that article is the number of innings some of those guys threw, a lot of them were well over 300. whoshotthefrog
The amazing thing about Steve Carlton's 1972 season is that he accounted for nearly half of the Phillies wins that year. Carlton had 27 wins and the Phillies had 59.

catalinacaper
Braves fired Wren. About damn time. So much talent in the system and we wasted millions on Uggla, BJ and Lowe
catalinacaper
Came to post a comment about how great a season Alex Wood has had under the radar and came across a crazy stat.. He's pitched 242 MLB innings in the last year and a half.. Exactly 241 K's. But he has really flown under the radar as a ROY pitcher... 165 IP, 2.78 ERA, 164 K's, 1.13 WHIP. Had to go from rotation to bullpen back to rotation.

I added him back up and he's been on fire since.

lemongoat
They were going over Jeter's major highlights during the game tonight. The first 3 Jeffrey Meyer play - not a home run Flip play - safe Catch into the stands - routine play that he made difficult like an idiot

It was close though, he only pitched something like 77 innings last year.
