n00b question- I see several for sale threads where I am interested in part or all of a collection and the seller is asking for "fair market value". Is there a common resource that one could refer to or is it mostly just research/legwork? (completed listings on ebay, etc)

check eBay completed listings and there is popsike.com which can work out as well. Those prices are generally a little higher than what I will pay for most records, but I feel a fair market would be a bit cheaper than eBay because the fees a seller will save, so keep that mind...

We received a message from proboards about the violation of their service and guidelines. Specifically mentioning a thread and the forbidding of posting download links to copyrighted mp3s even if the album is no longer in print.

The message from ProBoards was:

ProBoards does not permit the posting of copyrighted material without the permission of the copyright owner. Your forum appears to be in violation of this policy. Please remove all offending content from your forum within 48 hours or further action will be taken.

Just because a work is no longer "commercially available" does not mean it is legal to pirate it.

Please take the time to familiarize yourself with our policies so that there are no issues in the future.

Download and file-sharing links posted on any other thread or board will be deleted.If you see this happen, report the post to the mods as has been done in the past. Yeah, it sucks, but those are the Proboard rules and guidelines and since we're here, we have to abide by them.
