impact
Hmmm... maybe if Obama was just going to have a sit down and do some wholesome upside down reading with the children of America there wouldn't be such a fuss... Those goddamn Democrats just photoshopped that! fake. http://www.snopes.com/photos/politics/bushbook.asp

drabley
fake. http://www.snopes.com/photos/politics/bushbook.asp haha It really is fake? I was just kidding when I said that. It says it could be a fake. It also says it could be just a case of the dust jacket being on upside down. All of it sounds like bullshit. Guy was a dolt. sharkticon
I wouldn't be surprised if my mom kept my little brother from watching this. The comments on that article were mind blowing, holy shit.
lydiawesome
This whole thing makes me sick. Before you posted this, my cousin changed her status on Facebook to say the following: -hopes all my friends with children are aware that on Sept. 8th, Obama is addressing your children at school and there will be questions and answers all day....[my] kids will have a 4 day weekend this weekend!! No school for them on Sept. 8th, hope it's a good beach day!! -we are booked flight, hotel and car....Rob and I are going to Washington DC for the 9/12 Tea Party!! Then she responded to a friend regarding that update with "Jenny, that would be incredible if you could meet us somewhere!! This will be something we will never forget and get to tell our children and grandchildren about!" - listening to a sermon from our old Pastor in St. Louis....it's important to not follow the masses, it is better to be in the minority but knowing what is right in God's eyes and follow His desires. And the latest poll she participated in: Should we bring back the Pledge of Allegience at American schools? - Yes! Its an American school! - No, It offends my childrens beliefs - Let the kids who want to, do it! Let the others sit it out She voted 'Yes! Its an American school!' Of course. All I can think is that this woman's kid (my 2nd cousin) has cancer, and she didn't have money to take care of all the bills, but she opposes health reform to such great lengths that she's one of these psychos?! I was so excited to be able to communicate with my family because of the glory of the internet, but now it just makes me cringe when I see all their bullshit. It's just driving me crazy seeing all this insanity I suppose. It really sucks too because I was planning on meeting up with them to see my younger cousins when I go to Fest, but now it feels like I never want to see them again. This is quite possibly one of the dumbest things ever said. I'm sorry for knocking on your family, but that literally makes no sense. I posted it because I find that she is a complete moron. I just can't get into it with her because then it will start this whole thing between our moms (they're sisters) and I don't want my mom to have to deal with that. sharkticon
When did schools stop saying the pledge of allegiance? They didn't stop saying it, they just made it optional. I always opted out of it in high school. Punx. My family sounds a lot like yours. They don't have any real direction or goal to attain. It's sad really. My mom was on my ass for a couple year when I didn't have health care because I was working various part time jobs. Now that I have it again she's all relieved for me. Yet she disapproves of health care reform all while spewing some bullshit about socialism running wild. She and my step-dad LOVE their Fox News/Sean Hannity. sharkticon
excellent comment on this I saw on Digg: "So you're going to protest the politicization of your child's education by politicizing your child's education. Brilliant."
xxmartinxx
Then she responded to a friend regarding that update with "Jenny, that would be incredible if you could meet us somewhere!! This will be something we will never forget and get to tell our children and grandchildren about!" I can just imagine what they'll be telling their children and grandchildren... "Hey! Remember that time we were insanely ignorant and racist and believed everything Fox News told us and we kept our children from seeing an address about education by the President, one of the greatest orators of our time? Thank God we prevented that!" Fucking assholes. My guess is with hindsight they'll be too embarrassed to tell their kids shit.
tattoosdonthurt
the existence of the popular vote is the worst thing about this country...the fact that my vote has the same value as the ignorant masses is ridiculous. God, yeah, the ridiculousness of someone who has 5,000 worthless posts on a message board with 80% junk has the equivalence of a trident toting farmer in Iowa. The gall of the democratic process. sharkticon
Confirmed! My mom told my little brother not to go to school next week on the day the speech is supposed to occur. He's a junior in high school now. Thankfully he stood up for himself and said he was going and wanted to hear what Obama has to say.
tanukichu
I heard from someone back in my hometown that good ol' Waynesboro Area School District is refusing to air the Obama speech saying it will interfere with lunch. I am looking into it to see how true this claim is, but I really don't doubt the dumbfucks who run that school district would pull such shit like this. That place is a cesspool for ignorance and I'm glad I fucking moved the fuck away.
controlthebleeding
i am officially convinced most people are stupid. I usually stay out of politics because it just encourages people to argue irrationally in most cases. why would anyone want to discourage kids from watching a president wanting to give a speech about education. when it comes down to it, people who disagree with the president's policies are now disagreeing with him for sake of spite. if they taught their kids correctly to question and decide on their own, maybe it would help kids learn to have social dialogue among each other in general. to actually understand different views and people with different views (this goes for all aspects, not just politics). apparently adults can't do it so they dont want their kids too. its quite sad. me and my friend usually disagree on a political front, but we never get into heated debates regarding politics, but he lets me know how things seem from his point and i do the same. in some cases i tend to take from his knowledge and he does the same from me. I do question the stuff being asked by kids. maybe just talking about it afterwards would have sufficed. I had to do a 100 word report on Reagan's speech and i didn't care too at the time. But talking about it would have been generally ok with me. just my opinion. But to completely not watch or participate is just silly. the prez deserves the common courtesy. motorbike
just read the full transcript for the speech. i cant wait to hear how talk radio assholes are going to turn this into an "intro to socialism" speech or how obama is racist because he used names for children who dont have traditional american (white) names. my gf started student teaching this year and the amout of teachers, not to mention parents, who are against this thing is baffling to me. people are stupid, end of story.
