oakland
I've been a homeowner for about 8 years. It's nice to be able to do whatever you want with your place.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Give me the address so I can egg it.I've been thinking about this house stuff. Can't see myself doing it for awhile. our mortgage payment is lower than any rent we've had in pittsburgh. its one of the main reasons we decided to buy instead of rent for another year. also, i have no need to be in the "city" anymore, even though were just on the other side of the tunnels, were right outside of city limits and thus dont have to pay city taxes. HUZZAH! Take THAT Dan Onirato! also, i'll be cleaning out my house of records i never listen too anymore, so i'mma gunna have a list soon of my records. smailtronic
congrats! We've owned for just over two years now. It's pricier in some ways, but definitely worthwhile.
kouka
my wife and I bought a house 5 years ago, we're 2 years away from owning it outright, and I'm 33. Our plan is to work as little as possible after that - concentrate on gardening, painting, playing music.. if you can rent out a room out, do it. I converted our half-finished basement into a bedroom and we rent it for 1/2 our mortgage. best decision ever.

suburbanargyle
I bought a house about 6 months ago. Home Depot / Loews is now your new best friend! There is always something to be done. I sometimes miss the days of living in an apartment and getting to play video games once in a while, but overall I love being a homeowner. Mine's a 30-year loan and barring an extremely rich relative dying and hooking me up,p I don't see that getting shaved down very much. rhythmgtr5
having a house is a lot of work and as others have said - there is always something to do. It can get expensive quickly. That said, I still think it was the right choice to buy a house rather than renting.
