sean
stoked! cornerstone color? i may wait for that one.
somethingvinyl
This artwork is way better. But back in 1999, seeing a dude who wasn't in Stryper wearing eyeliner was pretty controversial for the Christian community. Since Zao were still known as a "Christian" band then, it was a bit of a noise maker. They got the attention they were looking for. So while the artwork wasn't great, the reaction was, thus Zao succeeded.
cactusbot
stoked! cornerstone color? i may wait for that one. I am not sure I am going to make it to Cornerstone this year, so I wouldn't bank on that. Glad to see people like the new art!

almightyseancore
you should put little flakes of unburnt bible in the vinyl.
smailtronic
This artwork is way better. But back in 1999, seeing a dude who wasn't in Stryper wearing eyeliner was pretty controversial for the Christian community. Since Zao were still known as a "Christian" band then, it was a bit of a noise maker. They got the attention they were looking for. So while the artwork wasn't great, the reaction was, thus Zao succeeded. I sold merch for Bleach at Cornerstone 2000, and had several long talks with John Reuben's mother (next booth over) about all the censorship around this album, the Deadlines, Norwegian christian metal acts, and pretty much every edgy release of that era. For this album, the big Christian bookstore chains only agreed to carry it if they got alternate cover art with certain tattoos airbrushed out, and other concessions. Not surprised that the band wasn't happy with the artwork.
somethingvinyl
^^^^ Absolutely. I forgot about them using this 'censored' cover because Jesse Smith had pin-up girls tattooed on his arms.

Shit dude that is some awesome art, I really dig it! I don't mind the original art but this beats the hell out of it.
