steventangent
Nah, I legitimately enjoyed watching Coraline and thought it would stick out like a sore thumb on that list of mostly rated R movies. I'd have listed No Country For Old Men, but was trying to avoid putting too many movies by the same directors on there... this is the part where people can give me shit for picking Fargo over No Country, but honestly, they're both awesome. Watch them both, or just watch Fargo and read the goddamn book
steventangent
I also forgot to add Taxi Driver, but honestly, so much of my list seems like it should be a foregone conclusion. Many of those movies are considered classic anyway. The one movie I do find myself forcing people to watch is Death to Smoochy, because a lot of people haven't seen (or heard of) it and I think it's awesome. I think it turned a lot of people off because it had Robin Williams and it reminded people too much of Barney the Purple Dinosaur...but it's actually a movie about organized crime and one man's struggle for his principles, except that it's vulgar and completely hilarious. Seriously, anybody whose sense of humor skews toward the dark and sardonic should get more than a few laughs out of this movie. I think every single one of the movies on my list has at least a few really funny scenes, and there are really only 2 of them (Death to Smoochy and Hot Fuzz) that are comedies.
