dietrich
i dont really care what the genre is, but when fall out boy comes on at my work and one of co-workers says that he really does not understand why people like this punk rock garbage, it makes me cringe. lokithelion
I try not to worry about how people categorize bands. You could ask this question with almost any genre. What do you consider punk, emo, screamo, hardcore, metal, grind, etc... You will get so many different answers.example: shit pokinatcha is almost a hardcore record. I would never in my wildest dreams call pokinatcha a hardcore record. i said almost, but you'd admit that its a freaking distorted, fast and at times heavy record. Teenage Politics also has a few border line HcX songs.

andrew13
nofx, descendants, ect. most fat and early epitaph bands. blink 182, good charlotte, and that shit is not pop punk. it's boy bands in punk clothes.
jhamm212
I've never categorized Blink 182 with Good Charlotte/Fall Out Boy/whatnot because I consider their old stuff good SoCal pop punk. They got more and more just regular rock as they went on.

Guest scriptedrain
When I hear "pop-punk," I immediately think of Blink-182, New Found Glory, and MxPx.

disillusioned
Emo is impossible to pigeon hole. Emotional music is different to the listener , for me personally it's bands like HWM / Gaslight anthem / Leatherface /chillerton / four dumb kids because it stirs emotions in me when i listen to it. I have never heard of fall out boy been called pop punk.
mediocore
If NOFX hasn't been mentioned yet, I'm disappointed. I don't consider them pop-punk I've always thought that NOFX -- along with the other Epi-Fat bands of the '90's -- were classified as "skate punk." Either way, all these sub-genres give me a headache.
