justindinealone
hey guys, so we're trying to figure out some new releases and have a few of them where we could either do a single lp @ 33 while pushing the side split limits. or do a 2xlp mastered at 45 but there'd only be 3 songs per-side (annoying to listen to?) which would you guys rather purchase or do you even care if its the only way the record is available? thanks! jerseydave77
It really depends on the band. Since a 2xLP will cost more it could be a factor in my decision. If it's a band I really enjoy I like the 45rpm mastering quite a bit more. The gatefold packaging along with the increase fidelity of the music makes it an appreciated addition. daegor
45 rpm, for sure.
jase
I voted 2x10" I don't really care about price. If Its something I want, I'd rather it sound great than be $3 cheaper
One Hundred Fifty-Two
If I was on the fence for the band I'd go with a single because it would be cheaper. If it is a band I really enjoy I'd prefer 2XLP for it to be a superior package.
justindinealone
these would probably be limited to 500 or less. coloured vinyl, gatefold or screened / numbered jackets and inserts. id imagine: single lp - $15-17 double lp - $
GradedOnACurve
Tough call. To me it depends on how long the album is. 12 songs at 30 minutes could be on one LP. 12 songs at 45+ minutes should be on 2xLP.
jerseydave77
ehh a double lp at that price had better be for a popular band This more or less.
whitemage
If it's for the Alexisonfire re-presses, my vote is for the 2xLP @ 45RPM
suchashorttime
i'd say do single unless you have to go double. unnecessary risk of a low ROI. plus, yea, 3 songs per side of a 2xlp is pretty annoying.

cloud87
I buy a lot of Dine Alone's releases Justin, and I'd have to say 2xLP @ 45. Your releases are always high quality so I'd def fork out the extra cash for the better double LP. But as others have mentioned it probably does really depend ultimately on the popularity of the band and how many will be pressed.

makeshiftrigger
What would I prefer? A single that sounded like the double. I'm lazy an not having to get up every 3 songs is nice but I enjoy the doubles especially when done in different colors and such. I've bought 6 city and colour doubles once I go an get the tour little hell so I'm not opposed to either really, I'm just lazy

Those with automatic turntables would be screwed, the needle would pick up in the middle of a song.

patron
Double LP with a blank/silk screened d-side. Also, Justin: Check your PMs regarding Attack In Black.
kriss
I'm a fan of double LP's myself. It's a few bucks more, but I feel like I'm getting more value out of the purchase.

daegor
Double LP with a blank/silk screened d-side. If you can do this AND keep it a 45, that would be AWESOME.
Shitty Rambo
There's a 95% chance I wouldn't spend $25 on an album by a band I didn't already really really like. I love Minus The Bear and passed on the 180g represses because I could save $4-$6 getting the colored copies instead. I'm a tightwad, I vote for the cheapest option. nicole
single. less annoying and cheaper. also takes up less room on a shelf. I'd rather be able to buy 2 records for $30 than 1 for $25.
