tco
Just seeking a bit of advice here, i recently sold a few surplus records on ebay and discogs. All the records sold and were sent out and received no probs, except one. He told me he wanted the cheapest postage option available (UK to Germany), which i told him i would prefer if he chose a method with some tracking as it was costing him $75 for the record alone. He wouldn't budge so i sent it out regardless. As he went for the shipping method with no insurance, if he doesn't receive within 4 weeks, where do i stand. The buyer had zero feedback on discogs, so just wondering if he may be trying a reverse scam. Any advice would be appreciated.
xjustinxschwierx
not sure how discogs works but tell him too fuckin bad, it was his risk wanting the cheapest option without tracking.

fourfourtwo
Yeah... thats why I refuse to send internationally unless they pay as a gift or get registered shipping.
Snaggle Von Swift
Receipt of postage + Recommendation of postage options = GG He loses (QQ) but does paypal feel this way? or does paypal only have the fuck the seller mentality when it comes to eBay transactions? kylekrische
I got fucked the same way. I sent a record to Chicago from the Toronto area. Seller says it didn't arrive and asked for the cheapest shipping method. I showed I sent it and still lost the money when ebay went to resolve it. This process is heavily tilted against the seller. I require Italian and Brazilian buyers to pay for a higher class service since I got tired of getting claims from these countries. I've never had an issue with Germany though. In fact, I find German buyers/traders to get their stuff really quick.
tco
I've asked him to leave it a another week as that's just a fortnight that's passed. It may well have been held up at the UK end, i sent a parcel to France priority with tracking and that took about 12 days to get there. Think i may get fucked over on this one tho
Guest
The German postal system is extremely quick and organized Agreed. i've gotten records from Germany quicker than records shipped within the US.
rockstar71888
whenever i do an ebay listing, i always make sure to say something to the effect of "ill send international, but if i can't track it, i'm not giving refunds". people are liars
psychoriley
As far as I know, doesn't matter what you say, if an item is sent without tracking and the buyer says they did't get it....you lose if they file a claim.

kriss
^ that's a really bum resolution since it's on the buyer's end for not spending the extra bit of money to get the tracking/confirmation on it. Anytime I've ever ordered anything from Germany, I've gotten it quicker than when folks send me stuff from places like California or Washington. psychoriley
I personally have never had any Germany problems either. And it does suck, but you can say priority mail only....and that is trackable. People don't like it, but ultimately it would be up to you if you stick to it or not. For a $75 record...fuck it, it goes priority or it doesn't go. I have sent stuff out international 1st class many times. I have only had 1 person "claim" they did not receive it, out of 100+ mailings. I have sent a few high dollar packages....and they always go priority mail, period. Your the seller, you make the rules, no one is obligated to buy if they don't like it. On occasion I have even partially covered priority shipping costs maybe cover $10 or so on it... wgb
I had a similar problem in the past. Solved it by filling a search request with the mail service I've used, two weeks later they responded that the packet was delivered correctly. I forwarded that message and never heard a single word from that guy. You should check if your service offers something like that.
recordhound1002
This has happened to me. Sent a record out dude said he never got it. After i sent it and he filed a claim he never came back to the boards. so ALWAYS! get a tracking number!!!!!
bill
The post from the UK to Germany has been really slow recently especially for parcels. I`d say leave it a while yet.
moonbeams
I think some international packages get randomly selected to be checked by customs. This can put a month long delay on the package. Politely ask the buyer to wait 6 weeks.

moonbeams
When ever I sell a record that fetches a high price, I offer free shipping and cough up the tracking registration myself. It's why my prices are jacked up, but you get a good service.
