celebdeath Posted November 16, 2011 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Old news now I guess, but the /600 Sheath variant is still available CASPIAN - Live At Old South Church LP "blush"/white marbled vinyl "On Friday night, October 22nd, 2010, Caspian played a benefit concert in Boston, MA at The Old South Church. the performance was a benefit for Amirah, a non-profit organization located in Boston dedicated to providing whole-person care for victims of human sexual trafficking. Now, we've wanted to release live Caspian material since the first time we ever saw them perform; if you've ever seen them play, then you know why. On this evening in particular, the band was in that special place that special bands go when things come together perfectly during a performance, and keep in mind we were in a MASSIVE, Gothic Revival style church built in 1875. I suppose the term "epic" would fail miserably in trying to convey the sheer size of the sound that was reverberating hundreds and hundreds of feet from wall to wall to ceiling to floor. Natural reverb, an organic wall of sound. Again, if you've seen the band perform, you have witnessed this impenetrable wall, but never like this. Not in a building this size, or in a room this conducive to utter aural bliss. For those lucky enough to be witnessing the event this evening, it's highly unlikely that anything ever felt quite so "religious". The audio of this experience was captured, and while it's true that there's nothing like actually being there, this recreation is about as close as it gets. It's our privilege to bring these first official live recordings of Caspian to you, in a way we feel is indicative of the sheer power on display when the band performs. If you've never seen the band, this should serve as the ultimate motivator in making that happen as soon as possible. If you have seen the band, just close your eyes and imagine. 1000 of these will be pressed total. with 200 of them on a record store exclusive white vinyl, not available anywhere online. The 5 color jackets will be printed on 20pt SBS stock and feature an image of the church the performance was held in. $2 from every sale will be donated directly to Amirah. This serves as the proper documentation of an evening that will live on for eternity." troglodytes82 Posted November 16, 2011 Share Posted November 16, 2011 First off let me say, that I went to school with most of these guys and they are the nicest group of musicians you''ll ever meet. They deserve all the support they can get and seeing their popularity on forums like this makes me so happy for them. I missed out on the Old South Church show last year due to a family obligation, so this will be my only chance to experience this fantastic show. I was talking with Chris Friedrich last week when they played at the Great Scott, and he said playing that show was far away the best thing he had ever done as part of the band. booyahachieved Posted November 16, 2011 Share Posted November 16, 2011 I missed out on the version limited to 100 because I was out seeing the recent Russian Circles tour (totally worth it). Still snagged the other version so I'm a happy camper. Caspian is probably one of my most favorite "post rock" style bands. I know everyone seems to automatically name drop Explosions in the Sky these days but I've always liked the way these guys do it better. I just wish I could see them live once more. Got to see them when they were touring for The Four Trees but since then they've never come back to Columbus, OH. Although, I can't really blame them. Make your friends listen to it, too. Sheath should be getting their copies in tomorrow and shipping them out immediately. As discussed, there were some slight delays in transit we dealt with on our end, but once we received all the records we've been packing feverishly ever since. There were TONS of preorders, but we've been at it non-stop and should be done by the end of the weekend. Here's a couple of the shipments: The other day: Today: You'll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking info when your order ships out, so expect it soon if you've yet to see it Here are some pictures of the actual records. There was a lot of push/pull with the pressing plant that pressed these and the colors didn't come out the way we had envisioned. However they look sick and we're happy with the final "product" if you will Check 'em out, sorry for the crappy iPhone pics... white vinyl, record store exclusive (limited to 200). This is in select stores now, and should be fully distributed by 1.24, if your store does not have it in stock, tell them they can order it from Redeye Distribution for you: "blush" vinyl (limited to 100, sold out). This turned out much different than originally planned, but kudos to the plant for actually make it look like "blush" It's a deep gold color with some pink mixed in, these pictures suck, but we're stoked on these: "blush"/white marble (limited to 600, available HERE. Yeah, this will be considered pink marble from here on out. There's virtually nothing "blush" about this one, but they look sick and they're our first opaque pink records we've have pressed Just wanted to give everyone a mass update so we're all on the same page, please spread the word to everyone ya know that preordered the LP and thanks for your patience!!
