joshnotgood
Gosling snubbed, good for Kung Fu Panda 2, Extremely nominated with a tomatoes rating of 48%??? Nothing really exciting here. Except maybe Williams for best actress, I hope she takes it.
dreamover
i think girl with the dragon tattoo should've gotten the nomination for best movie (even though i know it wouldn't win), considering the lack of depth in the nominees this year glad bret mckenzie got nominated for best original song from the muppets ryan gosling was definitely snubbed this year the only two best movie noms i've seen this year were moneyball which wasn't that great and midnight in paris which was really good. it's weird to see no pixar film get nominated, but it makes sense this year good for jonah hill. moneyball was the first movie i've seen where he didn't annoy me. rooney mara really does deserve the win for dragon tattoo. i can't imagine anyone else being more immersed in their role. jerseydave77
It's criminal that Harry Potter wasn't nominated for Best Picture and that Ralph Fiennes was snubbed at best supporting. This was a fairly weak year in film in my opinion and it's hard to see why they were overlooked. It was a great film.

xadamhudsonx
Jonah Hill didn't do anything in Moneyball! He just fucking sat there and nodded most of the film. Trent Reznor and his partner should've been nominated again for GWTDT. Ryan Gosling snubbed. Bridesmaids was a decent movie... but come on. Oscar worthy? Of multiple nominations at that? Nobody even saw Midnight in Paris. I'm pulling for Rooney Mara. That'd be a nice little upset.

chunkrock
Midnight in Paris was great. I'm shocked Ides of March wasn't nominated for best picture because it was better than all of the other movies nominated (except midnight in paris and Tree of Life). Also suprised The skin I live in wasn't nominated for best foreign film.

It was an odd film.

dynamitekid
I never watch the oscars and this is one of the reasons why. War Horse looked stupid and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was an average book that got turned into a terrible movie.
jerseydave77
One of my favorites of 2011: The Guard I thought it was pretty great as do most of the folks in my office. Surprised it didn't get a foreign nod.
lonesomexloveus
Why the heck hasn't Drive been nominated for anything? ...that came out this year, right?
jerseydave77
Why the heck hasn't Drive been nominated for anything?...that came out this year, right? Honestly? Because it's a good movie but The Fast and The Furious was better. And we all know awards shows will deny Vin Diesel's greatness until the end of time. So if FATF > Drive but Drive > half the other nominees = No nomination. It's the Vin Diesel paradox and no matter how sexy Ryan Gosling might be he can't get around it. jerseydave77
My theory: There are two types of men, those that openly admit to loving Vin Diesel films and those too insecure to admit it.
BuzzersonKillwell
t's the Vin Diesel paradox If Vin Diesel was all-powerful, or omnipotent, could he create a car so fast that even he could not drive it?

Agreed on both counts. I am mostly annoyed...borderline pissed...that Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross didn't get nominated for the soundtrack. They were for a Golden Globe but got shafted by The Artist.
