californiaflow
I have a Cambridge Audio 640P,in the box, with all packing, manual....$160 to your door. Tempting. The dude wants me to come pick up two items from him that were part of the deal that he couldn't find at the time today, the Marantz remote's AC plug for the charging base, and an older Sony pre-amp that has a phono input. He is suggesting me to hook my table up to the Sony pre-amp and then plug the Sony pre-amp into one of the Tape inputs on the Marantz. Would this even work? Would you be open to a trade? I have a nice NAD pre-amp I would be willing to trade for that Cambridge.

Next up is some Wharfedale Diamond 10.1's Believe it! Quality isn't a myth. It might be expensive, though... Congrats!
californiaflow
Tomorrow I'm getting an Akai AP-Q310 Direct-Drive table in mint shape, a Nikko NR-320 receiver, and an unknown wooden/silver-faced receiver that just lists "Model 5300" on the rear of the unit, all for $20. mikeytags
Black Music Hall MMF 2.2 with acrylic platter. thing sounds amazing!
californiaflow
Why are you collecting gear? I'm testing out different sounds. I always hear that different manufacturers have different sounds, so I'm trying to see what I like best. The rest of it will be used to build a set-up for my dad for Father's Day and a set-up for my girlfriend who is showing interest in vinyl. JumpingBean
I may or may not have found a Pioneer Sx-980 at a estate sale today. It functions well except that the left channel is kinda fucked up in stereo, so I'm guessing I'm going to have to take it in to a pro.But still, a fucking Sx-980... xxmartinxx
I just bought this today to (hopefully) retire my Eico ST-40: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200927189276?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
octave
I just bought this today to (hopefully) retire my Eico ST-40: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200927189276?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Looks nice. Are you gonna use it with floorstanders?
xxmartinxx
Yeah. I'm a little concerned about the amp having enough juice since they're only 89dB efficiency, but it's not that big of a room and I don't need a ton of volume.
octave
It'll probably be fine, I was just curious. Could you hook it up to an amp if you had to?
xxmartinxx
It doesn't have preamp out, so no. One of my employees said if it's not loud enough for me that he would buy it off me. The Eico I have, currently, is only 20 watts per channel, and I never turn it past 9:00 on the dial so I'm not super concerned.
octave
Haha, that would make since, probably should have looked at it better. That's awesome you have a back up plan. Just in case.
slinch
I just put in a bid of $1,300 on a table, does that count? The listing ends in 9 days and 23 hours though, and I'm barely the high bidder, but I'm sure that doesn't mean anything
bluedeni
Curious, what table?
slinch
This bad boy: Not that I'd ever be able to afford it, I just wanted the tiny satisfaction of seing "you are the highest bidder" next to the picture Oh, it's a Clearaudio Master Reference with a TQI TT2 tonearm and the Everest stand. I'm guessing it will fetch around $10-$12k.
bluedeni
Yeah that is one sweet table. Haha yeah I do that sometimes. It does make you feel good for a little bit:)

3arl
Just out of curiosity, does it have 2 tonearms? One pivot and one sliding.
ajxd
More like why doesn't it have 4. To answer you simply, different sounds. Some carts sound better for different music. Same rationale used for different preamps.
