Imagine if this was any other medium or product.

It's a "box subscription" sort of deal for makeup or food or snacks or nerd merch.

On their website, they'd have really well-dressed photos of the top makeup brands, foodie-approved restauranteur recipes, locally-grown delicious-sounding jalapeño-ricotta cashew & quinoa clusters, and really cool 12" figures of the Walking Dead cast.

Let's even throw out the whole curated element.  Let's say they are just offering you the equivalent of FKA-Twigs-quality products in those genres, stuff that even if you don't personally like it, you've read great reviews for it and know there is quality there.

What you would end up getting is dried up Garnier-Fructis single-use packets from Garnier's 2005 Vans Warped Tour booth, a recipe for how to make a discontinued McDonalds snack wrap, a bag of generic gas-station wasabi mix, and a John From Cincinnati 'For Your Consideration' mailer.

People would be even more pissed than now.  But because some people have never been to a Goodwill or have never looked through the vinyl section at a thrift shop, they can receive a terrible $1 record that they admit is not to their tastes, related to their Spotify or Discogs data, or any good at all and they view it as being sent a long-lost artifact, like a piece of petrified hipster wood or a mass-produced dinosaur bone.

Every 'positive' review is from an older woman who is probably related to one of these VNYL team members or from seemingly-well-meaning young people who are just happy to get something in the mail that, in their mind, is a long-lost relic that you can't get anywhere else.  I mean, Tony Orlando.  I've never heard of him so this must be like a forgotten gem that only a few people still have!

Also, the people at the store in the photos seem 'fun' in the same way people in Budweiser, Kia and Levi commercials seem 'fun'.

He probably rode his motorcycle into the pressing plant, turned a chair around, sat on it backwards, stared at the plant manager for a few minutes in silence, said "Here's how it's going to be.  You're gonna let us press our records here and the price is going to be [x amount]," then left and was never heard from or seen again.  Then the band hired a fulfillment service to handle all their merch a few weeks later.

If I see record-shaped packages out for delivery I always set them on fire. It raises the value of my rare records, one record at a time.

"The beauty of VNYL is that tomorrow we can change our service to a vintage toaster club, TSTR. Or start shipping old Dell printers from the 90s, PRNTR. Or live birds, BRDS. And our brand quality would never change. We had a video editor make some content for us, a short 3D Vimeo-hosted film about vinyl, and we got the bassist from Surfer Blood to do an interview for our Medium site- a great piece of content. And tomorrow we debut our newest and best piece of content: a 15 minute short film about a group of twenty-something actors in Venice exploring the neighborhood, finding the #vibes that exist in their own backyard, and eventually ending up at an abandoned dance hall by the shore (the one from the movie the Wrestler) where they encounter a small table with a turntable on it. It's called WEVNYL and it's directed by Harmony Korrin's roommate in college."

Amazon is a super customer service oriented company. I'd think that to be banned from Amazon you'd have to be one of the creepiest, craziest, most obnoxious, manipulative, scamming pieces of shit on Earth. Wanting your records delivered undamaged doesn't necessarily put you in this category.
