  1. Kind of surprised there's not more buzz around this. Thanks for the heads up though.
  2. Yeah I think we all figured, considering your inability to digest any criticism of him or his (boring) guitar players.
  3. Once again, just because somebody doesn't like that noodly stuff, doesn't mean they don't get it or don't appreciate the musicianship that goes into it. It just means they don't like it. I think Trey is an incredible musician, maybe one of the best of our time. Cannot stand a single song the man has ever written. But I have awful taste in your cool guy opinion, so it doesn't matter what I think. And about Ryan being into that stuff back then, I actually didn't mind the jammy stuff in 2005, even though it's definitely not my thing. I thought it was pretty good at the shows and Ryan ripped some awesome guitar work for those Cold Roses and JCN songs. I found it interesting to watch. Neal, not so much. The songwriting was nowhere up to the level it was in 2005 after he joined the band. And I know that's mostly on Ryan (which he obviously realized when he fired the Cardinals) but once again, if you go back to what was said at the time, Ryan used to talk endlessly about Neal's influence on his songwriting. And if you compare the Cardinology era stuff with some of the crap on Neal's records and what Ryan used to let him play at the shows, it's quite obvious that was the case. Sorry you can't deal with somebody's opinion that Neal's boring as fuck, but it would be cool if you could grow up with your responses.
  4. Yeah, got mine yesterday. The colors shipped. Black to follow soon, from my understanding.
  5. Neal's boring noodling is right up there with some of the most sleep-inducing medication on the market in my opinion. I don't care if he's an excellent musician (obviously he is), I found the later era of the Cardinals to be terribly obnoxious and bland. And by the way, I listened to a ton of the shows back then and saw about five between 06 and 08. So thanks for the Deadhead "dude listen to the SBDs!" argument, but I get it. No need for assumptions that I wasn't around in 2007. And by the way, I agree that Adams was largely to blame as it was a pretty bad period for his songwriting and he was definitely into the whole California vibey thing. Casal was a huge part of that switch though, and that's documented in interviews where Ryan states that Neal's songwriting was hugely influential to him at the time. That was also clear from their stage presence and Neal's prominence on some of those tours. Again, not knocking the guy as a musician, but I certainly couldn't stand the years he was in the band. Give me the 2005 Cardinals over that "chill" stuff any day.
  6. Easy Tiger was laughably bad in all but a couple songs. Cardinology was worse. Neal Casal ruined that band. 29 was the last one I really liked. Thought Ashes and Fire was good, but pretty boring a lot of the time. I've got a feeling this new one will be pretty good.
  7. Great news, thanks. Haven't been interested in too much of his output since '29' but I'm always looking forward to new releases by him. Ashes & Fire wasn't great, but it was a promising step after some of the later Cardinals stuff.
  8. I've no doubt it will be different, but he's been talking up monumental changes in the band's sound since American Slang and in the end, it always basically sounds like Gaslight, just a little worse each time.
  9. Thanks a lot for posting that. Been meaning to pick this up, couldn't pass on $16 shipped. Was always kind of lukewarm on his stuff, but I'm really digging the new tracks. 14 left on that site it seems.
  10. Love Lucero and that's one of my favorite songs of theirs, but that legit sounds like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
  11. Good point, he doesn't specify exactly where online in that Instagram post. I'm guessing eBay auctions with reserves.
  12. "Police will stun you with their stun guns Or disable you with tasers That's what government is for." My 12 year old mind is blown. Morrissey really makes me understand the world.
  13. Rad, I'll pick this up. Wonder if these guys have ever heard The Replacements...
  14. Yes and they are also hit or miss in sound quality depending on the quality of the source. This particular show is pretty good but it's still a radio broadcast from the 70s and not going to sound any better on a turntable than the cd that's been out for awhile. If you need it on vinyl, then I guess it's worth it but $35 is steep for subpar audio IMO.
  15. Yeah whatever you say, Mr. 'Let The Insanity Begin.' On a related note, man, between this (already) and the Devil & God thread and every Glassjaw thread, what is it about Long Island bands that bring out the absolute best in people?
  16. 180g is cool but not $32 cool. Also, I know it's a small point, but I never really thought this album called for a crazy color issue. This could have just been black I think.
  17. The song they are previewing from this sounds like the theme from The Munsters.
  18. Totally agree, my 1/1 'opposite clear' is great, but it looks a lot like black.
  19. Yeah I was getting a little antsy about it as well. But I got mine just yesterday and the guy right above you just got his too, so I'd say you're good.
