  1. Interesting. Is Ryan Adams the new muse instead of Bruce and Eddie? In the last year, Brian has adopted both Adams' internet personality and former bassist.
  2. Shut up, Ryan. Quit trolling vinyl forums.
  3. What? This has a bunch of covers. And just to pile on what everyone else said, there is no reason to spend so much money on this, regardless of it being pressed on a totally unnecessary vinyl color.
  4. Thanks for posting! The clips of the new songs all sound excellent. I was a little lukewarm on Celebration, FLA but enjoyed about half of it. Everything else is some of my favorite stuff from recent years. Sounds like this one will be right up there.
  5. This is really excellent. Nice job not giving up, and I hope that kid gets what he deserves even if you don't press charges. Makes sense that it was a kid, too. I doubt some grown man working in a home would decide to risk stealing records from bands he knows nothing about, on the off chance that he figures he could make 100 bucks at a pawn shop. Also, that extra $10 a month on your insurance, though shitty, might be worth the peace of mind in the future.
  6. Chamberlain is a special album, no doubt about it. One of those records that just hit in a perfect way. My most played by them too. But for a band with their level of success, I think they've done a great job of adapting to the pressures of getting big and molding their sound, and still retaining so many of the elements that drew me to that record in such a strong way. Can't say that about a lot of bands. You might find things to dislike and reasons why older stuff was better, but they could have gone a lot further off the cliff. The couple times I've seen them since the last record, the shows were mostly full of high school kids and some parent chaperones. With my friends at the bars in these places, saying we felt super old is an understatement. I was definitely worried that this would have an effect on subsequent records. After hearing this one, I don't think it has. So more power to these guys and their ability to balance it all. I'll say it: Hey Brian, take note.
  7. This sounds like a pretty knee jerk reaction. I've listened a few times now. It's a little more polished, a little more mainstream in its songwriting maybe, and the lyrical content is a bit more "mature" or something (can't put my finger on it but there's definitely a difference in the lyrics). But aside from ridiculous expectations, if you liked the last one, you should find plenty to like here. Agree that there is nothing on here like Casey, though. Or Time Tables, if I want to be a real jerk about it ha.
  8. Finally got around to listening to this. Holy shit. This album is unreal. The last thing I heard from them was Wagonwheel back in 08 or whenever that came out, which I liked a lot. Then I lost track of them, but this...wow.
  9. I'm definitely in the minority, but I won't. These should not be priced as collectors items. They're records, and they're the same records that used to cost $10 through Epitaph mailorder and in stores (including Hot Topic). OK, that was 10-15 years ago, but has that much really changed that these need to cost $23?? Fine if so, but I'm curious as to why. Because people want them? Because the originals are sought after? Because the vinyl is now on cool colors instead of boring black? This just seems really out of control. In a way, I can't blame some record labels for getting in on the game, now that they're finally able to cash in a little bit on these bands since their fans are finally adults with jobs. It just sucks that "making records available again" now actually means squeezing the pockets of the people who want them most. EDIT: Also, I just defined capitalist market theory in a thread about NOFX records. My early college self is spinning in his grave.
  10. Yep, that's it. My memory was close, because I was going to say Rat haha And it never occurred to me to look at the track list for this...
  11. Sounds great. I'm generally not into the overly slick production on a lot of the newer stuff (particularly the vocals) but they do it right because the songwriting is still pretty raw. I mean aside from a few things, this song could have easily been on Chamberlain Waits. Only other song I've heard aside from the two released was one they played at a show back in February. Forget the name, but it was really good. Definitely looking forward to this one.
  12. ^^ Yeah, really. This record is so good, can't believe it isn't being discussed more. You snooze! Also wanted to comment on how awesome the packaging and records turned out. They sound awesome and look even better. Thanks for the quality product.
  13. Dick. Dick. The guy posts a legitimate topic that could easily spark discussion and this is how cool you have to be about it? There's nothing wrong with his post. You're not interested? Then move the fuck on, not every thread needs to be about a pre order. The too cool factor is really a terrible part of this 'collective.'
  14. Everybody should check these guys out. Eagulls (drop the r in the thread title) are definitely one of the best bands in the scene right now.
  15. Total and complete bullshit. Most of the first copies people were getting had the sticker on the actual sleeve, including the red and clear versions. Unless of course he's confused by the "Is this a bootleg release?" debate when it was first announced and came out. But the answer is still no. You're safe.
  16. This song is fuckin awesome too. Man, I can't wait for this record to come out.
  17. Yeah, same. Played this stuff so much back in the day, but doesn't hold up for me at all anymore. Wouldn't buy this. But still, I know how much it means to a lot of people so this is definitely a record that should be back in print. Or in print at all...not sure if it was ever pressed before.
  18. Haha holy shit this is bad. The 80s didn't even sound like this.
  19. S1D sucks because you essentially lack self control and just overpaid for a bunch of crap that you don't even want? Sorry, but why expect them to change a shitty business practice if it works? EDIT what Human Ton said.
