I'm wanting to put together a list of my favorite metal albums at the end of the year, but I'm sincerely worried all my picks would be Flenser releases. Are there any other labels consistently pumping out stuff of the same caliber? Edit: I remembered Profound Lore. Any others?

Listened to Mastery - VALIS for the first time last night. It's the fucking DEFINITION of insanity! I can't even tell if I enjoy it, it's just bonkers. Whew...

Album is 52 minutes, which is doable for a single LP. (Obviously.) I'd be surprised if he sprung for a double.

Never have I ever scored on vinyl at a thrift store. However, almost everything in my stereo cabinet was bought at Goodwill for under $10 a piece. With the exception of my turntable and my kickass Wharfedale 7.2's.

Yep. I've seen how fanatical Pantera fans can be. The reaction isn't surprising in the least. It's just crazy how little people seem to care that there's this large group of people tossing out casual death threats over the internet.

That's messed up. Hate on someone all you want, but grave desecration is not cool under any circumstances. That said, Pantera fans threatening violence and murder against these guys is fucking ridiculous. Jesus Christ.

(Hopefully) My Morning Jacket Run The Jewels My Bloody Valentine (Probably not. But it's what gets me out of bed every morning.) And then there's fucking Tool. But I've been hurt so many times...

Streaming the new Boduf Songs now. The whole album sounds like Sea Change and The Fragile eating each other. Cool.

I'm slowly warming up to a little bit of black-ish stuff. I always thought it was the vocals that I hated, but lately I've been thinking it's the drums that really get under my skin. Any recommendations for some good black metal sans the blast beats?
