dude i have been jamming this so hard, i was able to get it way early so i am quite familiar with the record. at first its not that grabbing but as you learn the bands sound and catch more lyrics it slowly captivates you. there is a whole world here, so many little sounds and whispers and references, it astounds me how rounded out each concsious corner of making a record was by these dudes. i have a few favorites amongst the album, but the final track "Youniverse" really encompasses what its about and is an amazing closing song. I implore you to dig deep, and be stoked you have the lyric sheet as some were very hard to pick out by ear

at least there wont be a 2-3 month delay on this since they're self-releasing

just wanna say this is one of my favorite records of all time. being from a bit more south than the band in indiana i didnt catch wind of them until this record came out. i remember watching them play in an indoor soccer facility in like late 2008, and it was just incredible. near 8 years later and i am still floored by the writing on this album. i'd say if you're more into the vocals check out their first LP Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst. If you're really liking the guitar check out Carry Ourselves (by Continuance), all three albums (and Set our Hearts to Burn) are really something special and I'm not sure if I know any melodic hardcore act or whatever that can create something that hits as hard as this album does.

Hate to be that guy but does anyone have a copy of this on cassette that they aren't in love with and would like to get rid of?

I feel like sometimes this band gets too into it and thus loses focus on maybe playing with precision live. I've also noticed with Neds hopping around his voice gets really breathy. Edit: Shane and Ben especially are always on their game tho

after about 5 listens to the song and a few listens through those minute clips i feel this album will be a lot more streamlined and accessible than jar. when it first dropped it reminded me so much of Gypsy's "Giants Despair" just less hardcore clunky and with more developed vocals. i think jars worst fault was the juxtaposition of the bangers to the slow kind of awkward alt rock jams. it seems this album cuts out those slow puddle of mudd-esque moments in favor of a more rockin "sing songy" feel throughout. also i get a hunch that theres a bit more jake on this record and a good amount of songs they both sing on???

stoked on new material but i thought the blue dream/4-way split track went in a weird poppy direction while the band was eschewing this darker emo vibe, the songs were less energetic sing-along mid tempo cuts. lets hope this album shows a huge leap as Magnolia did
