It sounds like they went in the studio and turned up the "goof shit" levels to 11 on this single. i am an engineer, i like Rush, and i am growing a ponytail, so i am certainly the target demographic for this band anymore, but i don't get this one.

Am I missing something? Why would someone who just grabbed 3 different records that they wanted, at a great price, immediately sell one to someone else?

just wanna say this is one of my favorite records of all time. being from a bit more south than the band in indiana i didnt catch wind of them until this record came out. i remember watching them play in an indoor soccer facility in like late 2008, and it was just incredible. near 8 years later and i am still floored by the writing on this album.

i'd say if you're more into the vocals check out their first LP Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst. If you're really liking the guitar check out Carry Ourselves (by Continuance), all three albums (and Set our Hearts to Burn) are really something special and I'm not sure if I know any melodic hardcore act or whatever that can create something that hits as hard as this album does.

Yeah, it's not a 'live' version but was meant to sound live for the purpose of the end skit to work more effectively.

    Amen.

Granted, having a giant gapping douche where his head should be does taint my perspective of him a bit, but Kayne is far and away the most overrated in the game.   And I actually kind of like some of his music (that doesn't utilize the atrocity that is auto-tune).    You wanna get me started rapper's whose music I actually hate, and I"ll give you a solid rant about Drake, Lil' Wayne or A$ap Racky.

Than again, I followed Macklemore up through the underground and have spent a decent amount of time over the past couple years defending him.  So what the fuck do I know.

    I also don't get this.
The album is called the story so far. It just so happens the band is also called the story so far.
At this point in their career they have experienced a lot, but there is still more out there for them hence so far.

One time I was at a music festival and I accidentally went to see this band, mixing them up with the promise ring. Needless to say I had a terrible time.

shawnayala90 reacted to Green Tea Papi in PO: Purity Ring - 'another eternity'
It's strange to think it's been almost three years since the 2012 debut of Edmonton Alt-pop, Witch house, synthpop, {Insert your own buzz genre here}, "whatever you what to classify them as", duo Purity Ring, and even 3 years since finding them in late 2012 I still haven't quiet be able to coin this band into a single genre, whether it be due to Megan James' sickeningly cute almost bubble gum pop-esque vocals, and morbidly dark lyrics, to Corin Roddick's trap influenced, future pop instrumentals, nonetheless what ever it is, this band is truly a mover and shaker in the modern music age. When Shrines came out in the summer of 2012 there was truly nothing like it out at that point, this mix of Clams Casino, Animal Collective, Crystal Castles and Sleigh Bells, blew though my speakers at every chance. But that was 2012, and it is now 2015.

With modern pop music getting more and more experimental as each day passes and a new Alt-pop artist emerging every 3 hours, it is becoming harder and harder to bring something as completely fresh to the table as shrines did in 2012, and sadly 2015's Another Eternity does fall victim to lack of freshness, to an extent. While the album doesn't feel completely derivative it didn't captivate me the same way that shrines did at first listen, it's singles left me  apprehensive that this band would fall victim to the sophomore slump, but as I got more listens under my belt, I began to fall head over heels in love with Another Eternity.

The production of Another Eternity is modern and simple, similar to that of artists like MØ or FKA Twigs, expect with a Purity Ring twist. This Purity Ring twist is best noted on the track Flood on the Floor. Flood on the Floor opens with high hats, kicks, and sample that grabs the attention of not only yourself, but those 8 car lengths behind you. The track is the best example of Purity Ring's new found use of soundscape, something somewhat lacking in Shines. Flood on the Floor captivates you with it's stings hidden under layers of a clean synthesized bassline and James' poetic lyrics of growth and change. "I wasn't think about you" James' voice echos out, as the overdone 'trap clap' rolls across the left and right channels.

Something thing that we don't see much of in Another Eternity is the in your face sampling of Megan's voice that put purity ring on the map, this may be due in part to the larger less wispy, fuller sounds, found on Another Eternity. Those reverb slathered samples of yester-album have been replaced with a more somber, safer type of radio friendly samples of her voice, mixed with EDM arpeggios that if found on say a Porter Robinson record would be dismissed as campy or cheesy. I for the most part find this change positive, especially at a point in time which the production style of Shines is starting to feel less and less, modern and more "the sound of the early 2010's" Although this trade in sound does leave the album in position that can be somewhat boring and stale at times, like in the cheap 808 snares of Dusty Hymn, or the punching yet soft bass and harp samples of Bodyache.

The highlight of this change in production style is best noted in the last 2 tracks of the album, Sea Castle and Stillness in Woe, a simplicity and minimalism is found in two closer tacks, a skill that 2012's Shuck didn't get quiet right.

Purity Ring sounds different this time around, but not completely different, this album isn't groundbreaking in technique, but it is groundbreaking in execution. Purity Ring brings together influence, after influence to create something that is truly their own. A sound that in the somewhat saturated Alt-pop market is still for the most part pretty fresh and unheard of

This album is Shrines for 2015, an album that isn't for everyone, but is bound to be a cult classic and a huge influence to the millions teenagers trying to get into musical production.

With all that being said this album is a perfect 10 front to back, a mature follow up Shines that doesn't stray too far from the familiar, but doesn't sit on comfortable either. Another Eternity has been and will continue you to be one of the most delightful releases of 2015.

But yeah, in all seriousness, I still do play that first album alot on my mp3 player. Even got to see them when they still had Ali on the drums in LA at the Troubadour. But after Only Place, I'm just not enthusiastic about this album if they are continuing down this route.

I thought it'd be a cool idea to start a thread about any good vinyl from artists on Bandcamp that others may not know about. On Bandcamp's homepage, you can sort their top lists to show the top-selling vinyl on Bandcamp for that day.

Yesterday, I discovered the band Postmadonna (http://postmadonna.bandcamp.com/) through this list and snagged a copy of their record for $11 (plus shipping). You should check out the music if you like math/pop/rock/experimental music. Some of it kind of reminds me of Their/They're/There. Additionally, their album artwork is great.

Anyway, have you guys bought any vinyl recently via Bandcamp from artists that others may not know about? Would love to know about any great records that should be in my collection!
