SONS OF ANARCHY Season 6 Thread **Spoilers**
radiatorhums replied to jhulud's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Why are they doing full hour episodes now? The episodes don't have enough interesting content for 40 minutes, let alone 60. In regard to this episode, I liked the ending. Not because it was good, but because it was so ridiculous that it made me laugh. -
Turns out Britney Spears was not a fan. Made me laugh pretty hard. http://www.avclub.com/articles/you-may-have-neglected-to-consider-that-britney-sp,103969/

When it's released has nothing to do with if something is considered a first press or second press. Deafheaven - Sunbather, for example, received a second press within two or three months (I think) of it's release. My understanding on what is considered a first press (and I could not be quite right on this), is that any variant made during the initial pressing run is the first pressing. Variants that are made afterwards would be second, third and so on. I don't really think there are a strict set of rules on this either and the label can call it what they want. If Southern Lord wants to call 'splatter' the second pressing, then I guess it's the second pressing. -
Stoner/ Doom Metal Discussion Thread
radiatorhums replied to Twistedshabazz's topic in Everything Else Message Board
I always associate stoner and sludge rock together. Here are some recommendations off the top of my head from the sludgy, stoner side are : Harvey Milk - A Small Touch of Human Kindness Their whole catalogue is solid, except maybe The Pleaser. A Small Touch is my favorite. Conan - Horseback Battle Hammer Eagle Twin - Either album is good Pallbearer - Sorrow and Extinction aSg - Blood Drive (This probably fits between stoner rock and hard rock. It grew on my a ton). Early Baroness, Mastodon and Intronaut are all on the sludgy side of things. Sleep and the post-Sleep projects (High on Fire, Om) are all good for different reasons. New Om is really droney, but I dig it. Kylesa and Black Tusk are rad. I think sludgy punk music is a better way to describe them though. The only doom I can think of recommending right now is is Loss - Despond. That album is incredible. -

I really hope they decide to do some west coast shows at some point. I missed Jeff when he was here solo. -
oop graveface stuff onsale soon
radiatorhums replied to mattalica17's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I feel the exact opposite. I was really interested in Blue Water White Death, but it missed me completely. I love Xiu Xiu and enjoy Shearwater and it didn't grab me at all. Check out Former Ghosts. It's Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), Zola Jesus and Frankie Ruppert (This Song is a Mess, But So Am I). It's kind of darker synth music and probably the most accessible thing that Stewart has been attached to. -
Eastbound & Down tv series

This season is shaping up really well, might be my favorite since the first. Something about putting Kenny in a middle America domestic setting working really well for me. Ken Marino is perfect in this too, I hope he's throughout the whole season. -
I thought pretty much the exact same thing when the track was posted. I'll listen to the first single off of anything I'm excited for, but after that I try and refrain from other singles or album streams. Being mostly unfamiliar with the content of an album when it hits the turntable keeps things exciting for me.

The Jesus and Mary Chain 11LP Box Set
radiatorhums replied to archiced's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Feel the same way. I don't have any of their albums on my shelf. If the box set is priced comparably to picking up the albums individually, I'll probably jump on it. -

Just got a 5$ coupon too. Oh well,I didn't really try to work this system too frequently. I usually just ordered what I wanted and was happy if it showed up. If it didn't, I'd use the coupon(s) on something else I wanted. The free shipping is a perk I'll probably miss more.- 2,164 replies

I'm not really an expert on flipping, but this seems like an odd one. Must be the relation to Thrice. -
I'm not quite sure if it would be to track down physical copies or not, they're just cd-r bootlegs. A little bit of Google work will yield you the mp3s if your curious about them.

It isn't as far as I can tell from the trailer.

Touche Amore "Is Survived By" LP coming 09.24.13
radiatorhums replied to tre's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Awesome! Thanks for the heads up, ordered! -
I can understand that and agree with it for the most part. I think my biggest problem with found footage is that lately it seems to be more of a budget choice as opposed to a stylistic choice. A lot of the time when I'm watching a found footage film, I can't help feeling that I'd enjoy it a lot more if it was filmed in a traditional manner.

If I can find some English subtitles, I'd watch an episode or two.

Saw them for the second time last month, first time was right after Boxer came out. Fantastic band, all around. I've listened to Trouble Will Find me about a dozen times and I still can't get into it like I have the earlier albums. It's by no means a bad album, it just hasn't grabbed me like I was expecting. I agree with you about S/T being a little rough, but I do love how 29 Years kind of evolved into Slow Show a few albums later. After you've exhausted their catalogue, I'd recommend tracking down The White Session and The Black Session bootlegs. They're both excellent. Edit : I just listened to both of these, since it's been a while. The Black Session isn't as good as I remembered it being, but The White Session is great.

I watched V/H/S/2 last night. The third 'story' was easily strongest, but I liked it as a whole quite a bit. Found footage horror movies have worn out there welcome for me, but I don't mind it so much in this series. I think it's the short film collection aspect of it that makes it work for me.

From the band's Twitter account. I'm pretty excited that this project wasn't a one time thing! -
I liked [REC] a lot. I've been meaning to watch the other two, but haven't gotten around to it. I really want to set aside 5-6 hours and watch them back to back. Good to hear the original director will be back for 4, I love what he did on Sleep Tight. I'll keep an eye out for The Tunnel, I have plenty of spare time for movies right now.
