  1. Awesome. I will definitely get House of Balloons. Never been a big enough fan of the others to drop that kind of dough.
  2. I figured out the breakfast place. It's the Kuala Lodge. You will probably never have a better view while eating. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60633-d496423-r159260390-Kula_Lodge-Kula_Maui_Hawaii.html. It was so good we went twice. I'd also recommend this magic/dinner show. http://www.warrenandannabelles.com/. Their website sucks, but this was an awesome experience. And there's really nothing else to do in Maui at night. I'd also advise against a luau unless you want to waste $200 on watered-down drinks. That's the only thing we did that we regretted.
  3. Bring gloves and a jacket for the sunrise on Mt Haleakala. It is freaking cold up there. We did that the first morning we were there. The night we arrived We crashed at 7pm their time after a full day of travel and wewe up at 3am to hit the sunrise. Most beautiful damn thing. There's an awesome breakfast place on the way back down from the mountain, but I can't remember the name. Definitely do the road to Hana. We also did a really cool zip line thing. And a horseback ride in the mountains. Skip the snorkeling at the crater. We didn't do it, but everyone we talked to said it was the worst. There were far more sea turtles at the beach. Eels too. Where are you staying?
  4. Tell him he can have a refund if he can factory seal the record again.
  5. What's your next race? When my legs are feeling really dead, I do 2 or 3 consecutive days of super easy runs (l'm talking 30-60 seconds slower per mile than a usual easy day). These runs feel a bit uncomfortable at first, but I can usually shake off that sluggish feeling by the third mile. I also recommend ice baths (waist deep, no colder than 45 degrees, no longer than 15 minutes). Other than lots of sleep, liquids, and good calories, I don't have much else. I have a friend who swears by beet juice, but I've never tried it. Good luck!
  6. I'm glad I have never heard anyone say this. When did this start? I was a high school teacher for nine years and never heard this once.
  7. I bought a copy about three months ago. I've only made it through 50 pages. It's good, but I don't know if I can invest the large chunks of time required for this book to be brilliant. It seems like you have to read it all pretty quickly or you might as well start over.
  8. Only one definitely in my top ten is Portishead - Dummy.
  9. Still haven't got mine. So glad I paid extra to pledge to get the same thing late.
  10. Congrats on the PR and congrats to both you and the wife for getting on the podium! Only person in your age group out of 202? That's crazy. How were the age groups divided?
  11. There were two recent repressing. The two disc remaster with updated artwork sounds fantastic. The single LP repress is horrendous
  12. Agreed. My vinyl copy of Hospice sounds better than my digital or CD. But no one listens to Hospice for the mastering or sound quality.
  13. Ran my first road race since 2009 today. I was hoping for about 17 minutes for the 5k. I finished in 15:35, but the course was only 2.94 miles. Really disappointing when you pay $30 for a race and they can't even get the distance right.
  14. I'm pretty disappointed with this pressing. There is really bad distortion on several tracks. Regeneration and Too Cool Queenie both sound awful. So does Long Way Home. Side A was fine but not impressive. The worst MOV pressing I own.
  15. This is a really good album. A perfect follow up to Fantastic Planet.
  16. Got my copy from Soundstage today. Looks quite nice. Looking forward to giving this a spin.
  17. That is an awesome deal on peppers. Our farmer's markets cost more than the grocery stores. I guess I could drive 15 miles to Aldi and get scrappy produce for dirt cheap.
  18. Where in the world do you buy groceries? It costs $3 for a head of broccoli at the store. Peppers are $2 each. Even a damn cucumber is a $1 these days. I planted nine broccoli plants for $3.25. Brought in the first harvest today. Already paid for itself. And the spinach did too. Now waiting on the cukes, peppers, and peas.
  19. Thanks! I definitely didn't mean to run it that fast. I had to pick up the pace so I could make it home and get to work!
