Just finished listening to this for the first time. I must say, these guys are amazing. Some music, seldomly, moves me from the very first listen. This is one of those albums I think is fantastic from the beginning. Great music, great dynamics, great record! Period! Now I got to get a digital copy to throw on in the car. This is great driving music. I'll be telling everyone about these guys. It's really awesome that through VC I have discovered bands that I probably would've never stumbled upon. Thanks SAC.

I just have to comment on my recent acquisition of The Raid score. Man, does this sound awesome. It my first real DW/Mondo release. Can't wait until I get my other DW/Mondo releases. This score has been on my turntable at least three times this week. And the packaging is so pretty as well. I can totally see why people love these releases and the addiction that comes along with it.

I thought about canceling with OLI. But I purchased when they first went up. I don't think I will get a better price than approx. $33 CDN per album. I'm lucky that I have a friend in Germany who I can ship these to. Had it not been for him, I probably would've of looked elsewhere.

My USB slipped underneath the packaging. I thought the same thing. Give it a gentle shake.

I picked up The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute OP for $35 + tax at a local record shop when I first started collecting (around 2010).
The kicker is , I passed the first time I saw it, went back about a month later and it was still there. It was burried in the rap section.

I guess I should have commented on my original statement about the original press. Sorry about that. This may get nerdy.

The original press doesn't sound bad. It's cut really hot. Depending on the cartridge you are using it can be sibilant on cymbals, the "sss" vocal sounds clip and sometimes guitars can get crackly. I have three close friends with original presses. Two blues and an orange. I've heard the album many times on three different systems.
 
All three systems, including mine, have been on a steady upgrade path. With each increase in quality of cartridge and stylus, the recording gets better. Higher end distortion is handled better and is more tolerable. I've directly compared the original with the repress. The original is "louder" if that's what you are into. The remaster is respectable though. A rip of a record available online could be done through a ten thousand dollar turntable and cartridge setup and you wouldn't know. Obviously that will sound better than a cheapie cartridge.

Eh, look at the bright side. Get a copy on Vinyl that will sound just as good for about $30+ less, once the regular version comes out.
I actually feel a bit silly that I paid that much for essentially a "signature."
