  1. Rooting for the Netherlands and Nihon. Really hoping tiki taka will get ridiculed.
  2. Got this Fabio Frizzi FREE 'Gatto nel Cervello' flexi in the mail yesterday http://www.discogs.com/Fabio-Frizzi-Gatto-Nel-Cervello/release/5717513 Yay! I think they were supposed to be given away at the Frizzi To Fulci show I attended in London last Halloween but probably were not ready at that time. All you had to do to get it was to scan a QR code from a Zombi 2 postcard and fill with the mailing address. I had completely forgotten about it and was suprised to see this small parcel from DW in the mailbox.
  3. If you want to keep it vintage and cheap I'd recommend these out of eBay UK (or a trip to your local 2nd hand shoppe): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pioneer-PL-112D-Turntable-/121346884901?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Turntables&hash=item1c40d68525 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-PIONEER-PL-12D-STEREO-HI-FI-TURNTABLE-/251539575188?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Turntables&hash=item3a90ed5194 I myself have one of these that I use for older, non brand new records, and I'm super happy with it.
  4. You would a phono pre-amp in order to get a decent sound out of your system with that Sony. That being said, I would save some more money to afford a better turntable.
  5. Someone MUST do the Burning Heart stuffs represses.
  6. An entire year of you in a single speck of blood. The gun smiles your smile and the razor whispers your name. They are just the frigid hands from the other side of the world Leading me into winter.
  7. Graduated in '94. Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day were all the rage. Went to this huge festival the same day I graduated: Aerosmith headlined but I went for Helmet, Sepultura and Therapy?. It used to be about genres back in the day, not scenes
  8. I don't think the 2-tone paint job will be visible once it's filled with records. Because that's what we all want to do, right? Get Expedits and filled them with wax!
  9. I bet he was too busy counting Universal bags of $$$ back in the day to pay attention to the licensing contracts.
  10. Nope. Parcel probably went to the their main hub to get sorted and then assigned to your local spot.
  11. Believe it or not, but depending on the locations of sorting sites, shipping hubs and so on, parcels do not always travel in straight line form point A to point B
  12. Found some advice for shows on another forum: Live clubs: Large list of Tokyo clubs: http://www.tokyogigguide.com/en/livehouses Specifics off the top of my head/bookmarks: Kurawood: http://kurawood.jp/ Earthdom: http://www1.odn.ne.jp/shinjuku-dom/index.html/menu.html Antiknock: http://www.antiknock.net/ Shelter: http://www.loft-prj.co.jp/SHELTER/index.html Urga: http://www.urga.net/ Hatsudai Wall: http://wall-moonstep.com/wall/top.html Quattro: http://www.club-quattro.com/ Heaven's Door: http://www.geocities.jp/xxxheavensdoorxxx/ Hot Shot: http://homepage3.nifty.com/hotshot/ Loft: http://www.loft-prj.co.jp/LOFT/index.html You're not going to see much this far in advance. Most clubs don't even update their schedules until the month prior. You're probably better off checking specific band websites for shows, or checking out flyers at record stores or other live gigs. August can be kind of slow though with shows, both due to hot ass humid weather, and the holiday.
  13. Tokyo is the best place in the whole world to go record shopping. I went wax hunting in London, Berlin, NYC, Paris, younameit and no place comes even close. I'm going again this August for the fifth time. Be prepared to set aside a couple of days or maybe a full week for record shopping. The yen/U$D exchange rate is basically on par so you'll definitely hit something good. For shows you should check out the TokyoGigGuide http://www.tokyogigguide.com/gigs but most of the underground shows are not listed. Go to a Disk Union (see below) to pick up flyers. Here's a list of my findings for record shops but I haven't visited tokyo since 2012 (and the Kansai area since 2011) so some of the following might be not up to date: Disk Union has like 5 or 6 branches in Shinjuku. Map here http://diskunion.net/st/shop/e_index.html Nat Records/Warehouse are in the same bulding http://natrecords.shop-pro.jp/?mode=f4 Vinyl Japan is close to Nat but I can't find a map (just ask the guys @ Nat). This is their address Vinyl Japan #1 – Nishi-Shinjuku 7-4-7 (03-3365-0910) There's Shinjuku Records across the street from Nat. Only bother if you are into 80's hard rock and AOR. Go check out the different Disk Unions in Shibuya, Ochanomizu and Nakano http://diskunion.net/st/shop/shop_map/map_do_area_english.html There's more smaller Disk Unions in Shimokitazawa and Ikebukuro. Just ask for all the maps in the first D.U. store you visit. Definitely save some hours for Recofan in Shibuya http://www.recofan.co.jp/map/map_eng.html Store is HUGE! Go to Koenji and visit Record Boy (RECORD BOY http://blog.recordboy.shop-pro.jp/?pid=14795 Koenji Building 303 4-7-10, Koenji Minami Suginami, Tokyo 166-0003 Japan) and Base (http://www.recordshopbase.com/contact.html). Osaka has quite a lot to offer for the wax hunter! Go check out Time Bomb http://www.timebomb.co.jp/store.html and KingKong Records http://www.kingkong-music.com/index.php?main_page=page_3&zenid=375fd37f7e64ef5b761e8129b9f8d72b in Namba. Not far from these two you can find AstroZombies which carries lots of crazy toys and Pushead paraphernalia. While you are there ask for JJ Records which has like 3 o 4 shops in the area carrying used cd's and records. Did not find much in Kyoto. The best ones were probably JetSet (see link from the Tokyo post above) and Bootsy (this blog has a post about it and a maphttp://www.deepkyoto.com/?p=199).
  14. Mr Bungle OG pressing of Disco Volante has a secret song titled 'Secret Song' grooved parallely to 'Carry Stress In The Jaw' http://www.discogs.com/Mr-Bungle-Disco-Volante/release/316270 Megadeth 'Sweating Bullets' 12" plays both sides from the inside grooves outwards http://www.discogs.com/Megadeth-Sweating-Bullets/release/1093655 The Trent Reznor remix kicks all kinds of asses.
  15. For some reason The Hunter was the first one that got me interested in them again since Remission. Did not like Leviathan back in the day and just stopped listening to them altogether. Heard the new one described as 'Yacht Metal' on some other forum
  16. I forgot to add that the close proximity of Hahn airport (about 1 hour by bus from Mainz) would be worth looking into for short breaks in other EU cities. This is a map of the Ryanair connections from HHN:
  17. I'm so old that I have a cd noob story and not a vinyl one
  18. I visited the area several times in the last few years for shows and whatnot since flights into Frankfurt Hahn are unbeliavably cheap. Nothing to write to home about but still cool. Frankfurt has a couple of decent record stores (Sick Wreckords and No.2) and in the same area they have a street market every saturday with lots of wax vendors. I also bought some records in Mainz from Lautstark. Missed on the Guttemberg museum and it seemed really interesting. There's a couple more shops in Darmstadt if you're into 60s/70s/80s oldies. Also treat yourself with a fkk club experience when the gf is not around
