There's pretty much every format you can think of for this including the lathe cut on old laser discs, CD's, cassettes and every colour of vinyl imaginable but I haven't seen any open reel copies so I've decided to do my own limited to 1 copy and delivered it to my only customer (me) yesterday. I'm going to drag out my Akai 8 track recorder next and do a copy on that just for the fun of it. Gotta find a nice colour laser printer now for the artwork.

So I decided to do a very simple veneer job, it's come out very nice so far. I've put this project off for long enough and I don't want to make it any more complicated than it needs to be or do something that's completely out of my wheelhouse or skill set while still learning something new (I've never worked with veneer before)

I was thinking of staining the table a very basic espresso or walnut color that would look nice, but then the more I thought about it I thought why make this look like a table that could have come out of the factory since there's a billion walnut turntables out there, including my main table I use now, so I'm going to stain it a cool mix of blue and green and give it some type of fade effect between the two colors and just have it be a truly unique looking table. Should be finishing it up the next couple days (veneer is set 100%, sanding is done and edges are good) and once it's all done I'll post a lot of pictures of the process and finished product.

It's not the most elaborate or complex job; I'm not cutting a new plinth out of wood or 3D printing a new base out of acrylic... but it's a fun project and a million times better looking than the fucking Beatles table, man.

    So what's next?

Just to give you a bit of inspiration I've sold turntables to a few of the guys at work recently and the upgrade bug has caught hard with two of them (the third bought the nicest table and doesn't really need to).
Ones a Trio (Kenwood) KD-1033 and the guy has had the top plate painted metallic burgundy by the car body shop over the road and is re making the plinth in ash I think
The other is remaking the Revolver Rebel I sold him. That's getting a new top plate made out of thick black acrylic and he's making a plinth out of maple for it, when They're finally done I'll post some pictures.
They both gave me a bit of inspiration to do a bit more to the direct drive suspended sub-chassis deck I made so I'm making a big thick acrylic platter for that.

    Keep us posted with updates.

Yep these things will keep coming in the post for months I reckon

That dilemma lasted roughly 3 to 4 seconds for me.

Check out what arrived today! Apologies for the phone pic. The orange marbling doesn't really show up in the picture but it's more noticeable in pictures. Definitely a subtle "smoke" effect though.
I can't believe how freaking excited I am to have a copy of this record. WE NEED MORE REPRESSES BEGGARS

yep I can agree with that, it took a some reading of the help files to work some of it out when I first started uploading my collection, no there really isn't a lot of help from people and you can get the anal types nit picking when you do make a mistake but I think the end result is worth the work when you get the hang of it

Only because I had a lot of problems over the years....
Also if you make enough errors on the site they limit what you can do on there...and at the time that I did it was really hard to find someone to help me fix my mistakes.
Don't want someone else to get in that same spot.
A better database is good for everyone!

Not really though. It is very well organized, and people are on top of shit when it's wrong for the most part.

I have a merge and delete pending now as it looks like there was a few done all at once.  Sorry I should have helped instead of did (teaching a man to fish and all that). Ill get it all cleaned up.

Same here, I also sort with a folder for linked artists so I will have a folder for the major band and then all side projects and solo things can be grouped under the same folder.

Just click on the headers and it will sort it in whichever column you've clicked on and the direction of sort you choose. Also yes it should be the exact variant if the user has catalogued their collection properly.

That's exactly what I did and mine was at quite a few more than that when I first started putting them on, it took a long time but as you say I did it whilst listening to music and it was a good way of working through things I hadn't listened to in a while. Also you get quicker at it as you go.

I signed up for both DF and Discogs at the same time when I started cataloguing and caring about my record collection after over a decade apart. I immediately found DF to be an entirely unacceptable website and to this day my head spins when people take such strong pro-DF stances. DF was an objectively poor quality databasing website and I have yet to hear a cogent negative complaint against Discogs but I am listening.

If you're not the only person looking for such extensive cataloguing capabilities, then it sounds like you've noticed a new opportunity. If you can code and database, I'd recommend you give it a go.  Since Discogs is for music - I don't think anyone is suggesting it as the solution for your music collection, plus your anime, Viva La Bam DVDs, Bartman comics, and fidget spinner collection. But seriously, if no one is making what you want (and it sounds like you looked), you should think about making it.

This is fascinating to me. It sounds like you don't know how to use the filters built into Discogs despite it is so intuitive and easy. You can filter by different options which should cover nearly anyone's needs, plus choose how many items to show per page (up to 250), and change the page layout between three different views - large covers, text with covers, and text only.  Using the filters can get you alphabetical and text only in a matter of seconds.  To your complaint about difficulty in putting a collection together in discogs, it is a databasing website and (un)fortunately data quality is important so we're going to have to deal with the extra few seconds in choosing the actual pressing we have and contributing to the database. Seriously, spend a few minutes on the site clicking on things. If you still cringe about it, then learn how to use excel.

The same, I tried DF a long time ago and probably because I'd already uploaded my collection to discogs and was used to it and so found DF to be difficult to use.

My collection when I loaded it all onto Discogs was somewhere around 6500 Albums, it's somewhere around 8800 now and I have absolutely no problem browsing through it, in fact I used the app today on my phone to stop me buying something I already had which was no problem to find at all.

The other thing with Discogs is that I can download a csv file of my collection, wantlist, tradelist etc. etc and use them in a spreadsheet how ever I want. I know you can bulk upload things for sale so you might be able to do the same with a csv file of your collection from google docs if the columns are ordered correctly.

Much like mobile phones or a lot of computer software I think its probably a case of whatever you used first is going to be what you are used to and anything else is just wrong.
