Ok belt drive I think so probably a stretched belt, no biggie to fix and shouldn't be expensive.

there are many videos on you tube showing you how to change and check a belt for wear and for size.

You need to know the size to order a new one, there are loads on ebay but if you just search for one by model it will be more expensive than searching by size for the same thing.

Also (oops triple post I keep seeing more things I want to respond to) I wouldn't even call that an official statement, it was people from the company posting in a place that supported their business a lot. sounds like going above and beyond to me.

That's my issue. The insane sense of entitlement here/in that article.

Oldies took nothing away from you. They are giving you a refund for what they couldn't send you.

Stock room receives over 1000 orders. 3 people usually handle picking and order fulfillment. Well shit what do we do? Send 4 more people down there. How are we gonna do this? Divide the orders into piles, hand a pile to each person to pick. Orders get sent out, out of order. Either way, the majority of us weren't getting that Low record or whatever record too many of us ordered.

The way I see it, they could've done it way A. Which was giving 7 people a pile of orders who could independently go through the warehouse and pick the orders

    OR

    B. take the time to hand the 7 people orders 1 by one in the order they were received.

Way A. Sounds more time efficient, and when you're flooded with orders I do not blame them for going that route.

Go work retail for a few months appleby.

I didn't get the stuff I wanted the most, but I also didn't buy anything I wouldn't listen to just to reach the free shipping threshold. I still got good shit at ridiculously awesome prices that I wouldn't have been able to elsewhere.

I'm ready for the next wave.

If I'm reading a message board devoted to records and I'm reading a thread about a sale at a vendor, a helpful post would say something like "Hey, this vendor has a lot of cheap records, but I don't agree with the way they handle their shipping department. They've filled the orders out of place which has possibly led to me missing out on some releases. If this sort of thing bothers you, you may want to skip ordering from this vendor". This comes across as a much more intelligent comment instead of talking about being all hurt up in your ass about not getting everything you've ordered. Ever hear the saying, "You get what you pay for"?
In a perfect world, all online ordering sites would have real time inventory instead of taking the records out of stock when the order gets filled. Unfortunately that isn't the case. I'm following this thread because it's fun to see what gems people can find in an online bargain bin. I've now placed 4 orders, and even if I don't get everything, I'll still be getting a great deal. Free shipping. Cheap records that I've wanted to own, and a refund for what I don't get. The way I look at it, I'm not entitled, and if I happen to get lucky on a couple of records, then cool.
TLDR: You can't always get what you wanted. Learn to deal with it and you'll be less disappointed with life.

How much you spend is not the issue it's how wisely you spend it.

A Crosley or similar is no advert for the vinyl experience, convenient they may be but as with a lot of things in audio what you gain in convenience you most definitely loose in quality.

As Slinch says a $20 turntable from a thrift store would be much more preferable, it doesn't take a lot of on line research to find out what is a good buy and what isn't, with mobile internet nowadays you can research a bit of hifi standing in front of it in a thrift store.

Got all 6 in this order and have got all 16 of my 2nd order which has also shipped as Mark has told me already. My third speculative late order for 17 has shipped and my 4th for 9 is still processing. I have no idea how many from the 3rd and 4th orders I will get and am really looking forward to the surprise.

This has been a great sale with service way beyond the call of duty, and from an overseas buyer the postage costs are very good so Oldies.com have definitely got a new customer in me.

Kept us busy and out of trouble for the last week, that's for certain.  And it added a sizable number of new gray hairs to the scalps of some of the vinyl pickers in our warehouse, and at least one customer service rep named Mark.  Wish we could've planned it better, but none of us had any idea it was going to go gangbusters in quite the way it did.  Oddly, you would've figured that moving 10,000+ LPs in just a couple of days would've made the shelves bare, but it doesn't even look like we put a dent in our stock!  So to answer your question, it's all good... ;-)

Was it good/bad overall? Did we, like, create some jobs or something?

I think if orders were placed in a FIFO queue and picked appropriately then nobody would have a gripe. Nobody can complain that the e-commerce stocking system isn't perfect. That just seems to be the largest complaint.

Regarding the issuance of PayPal refunds for partial shipments... we have been actively processing and posting these refunds through PayPal.  As the order volume becomes more manageable on a daily basis, the window between shipment and refunding will reduce significantly (usually it happens the following business day).  Many outstanding PayPal refunds from last week's sale have been processed and posted within the last 24-48 hours.

As you're probably aware, we're just dealing with A LOT of orders.  If you have any Customer Service-related issues, just shoot us an e-mail at [email protected].  Response time during standard business hours is usually pretty quick.  We'll answer the best we can.

For those that have inquired about Wave #2, we'll probably come back with more in early December, as we're still "digging out" from this sale, and we have Black Friday/Cyber Monday/etc. right around the corner.

Thanks again to all for the orders -- we appreciate your business.  To those disappointed, we are sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations, and will most certainly strive to do better the next time around.

I did the same with two orders, one for 17 LP's at $177 and another for 9 LP's at $109 (I'm in the UK so at least $80 across the two is shipping) these included loads of stuff I've never heard of and depending on what arrives I will either be pleasantly surprised or have a load of stuff that no one else wanted.

I always think it's worth the gamble.

I have a pretty varied taste and I've done this on quite a few vinyl sales over the years and have discovered a lot of music I would never have got to hear.

I placed a $85 order and was charged $65, so I'm pretty lucky to have had most of mine go through. Can't wait to see what shows up!

I'm glad this sale turned me onto Oldies; I'd been thinking about building a 45 collection and this is a great place to start. I drove by their warehouse a thousand times but never really looked into 'em.

    Fuck I hate people.

Nothing better than people who have never placed an order with a company before threatening to never order from them again.  All because the one order they placed of extremely cheap items got cancelled because stock ran out.

Oldies.com was doing fine in the years before you placing your lone clearance rack order and they will be fine years after you placing your lone clearance rack order.
