This guy (or gal) "reviewed" three record destroying garbage turntables.  I feel bad for people who are really looking for answers on picking a turntable and stumble upon some bullshit site like this.  They're going to be misled into wasting their money, time, and efforts only to give up on the hobby all together.  

I was thinking the same, I might be missing something but isn't faux leather just basically a plastic of some sort? I guess being vegan there would be no animal products involved anywhere but surely it would be harder to find a vegan unfriendly plastic than a vegan friendly one?

Bought this at the weekend.
For those that might well not have seen one it's a Manticore Mantra with a Manticore Magician tonearm.
I reckon this is probably one of the last made and it comes with every upgrade and bell and whistle they offered like an Aerolam sub chassis link a Pink Triangle, their very expensive main bearing upgrade, Manticore MB6i power supply and motor, the Magician tonearm with Van Den Hul internal and external wiring and all the arm bearing upgrades.
 
I also have the very first table they produces which came in kit form and was called the Input Design Kitdeck so this bookends the Manticore production.
 
They a not a table you see outside of the UK very much but are very much in the UK superdeck leagues and especially in this guise, I paid enough for it but this thing cost someone some serious money in the mid 90's and suffice to say this ones a keeper.

Too early for a new PO thread, but it looks like their next single is coming July 31st (called Head Boy Machine), which means an album will likely follow in September or October. Cannot fucking wait. Favorite band.
 
This isn't confirmed but seems legit, also makes sense with more live dates having just been announced. Same pattern as Clockwork.
 

If you like the Rega and Project style then my recommendation would be buy a used Rega P3 / Planer 3 and a better cartridge

It'd be cool if you got a really nice piece of maple and make it like a butcher block or something, or even a chunk of reclaimed wood, and made an entirely new plinth.

It's not a dumb question if you don't know and its better to ask and find out than not.

That's becasue when it says line out it means line level out as in signal level and in that line out and pre out are the same signal level.
Some equipment will say fixed and variable line out for line (fixed) and pre (variable) which is more helpful and you will also see tape out on some kit which again is fixed line level.

I expect its just MDF under the finish so I doubt there's a lot to stain

I got into vinyl records at the tender age of 9 in 1977 in the forlorn but laudable hope I could in later life bore the living shit out of people at parties about the subject once vinyl records were no longer fashionable, all went fine with this cunning plan all through the 1990's where I could hold an air of unfounded superiority at social gatherings ad infinitum, in fact as boring the shit out of people went I was the man right up until the early 2000's and then some cock womble decided to make vinyl records cool again with the facial topiary single speed bicycle riding types and there I was cast out into the fashionable herd once again. I've been in stunned silence on the subject ever since around 2006 and I've never really recovered, do you think there is some support group I could talk to about this?
