RSD was awesome for me, I've been on both sides of the counter but this was my first experience managing a record store for RSD. We gave out donuts and coffee for the morning crowd, had local artists perform from open until close. Raffled off concert tickets, new cds, new and used LPs including a gold copy of the Drive soundtrack, brushes and cleaning fluid, a carrying case for 45s filled with rare 45s, some rare Linda ronstadt records (it's an inside joke unless you have been to my shop, we got a collection containing every Linda Ronstadt record or single on any format including 8 track and also variants on just about every country of release from Japan to Argentina, so we did a test pressing and an import picture sleeve and a picture disc LP for the raffle). It was humbling to see that many people having a great time and buying physical media. Sales were up a sizable amount from the previous year, so I'm beaming with pride. I oversaw all the ordering and spent countless hours prepping and it was well worth all the effort, and my staff was on point the whole time and leading up to the event, I could not have done it without them. I rewarded them with gourmet pizza. I in turn was also rewarded because at the end of the day I was still able to grab the Tim Armstrong, Dessa 7" and The Grant Green Slick set. I did snipe one thing and it was the Sundays but I had the other 2 and I was damned if I was going to miss this one but I paid sticker price.  Luckily the other local had a Bert Jansch, so all I missed out on from my list was the Gene Clark and I think I have a line on a leftover. Fantastic experience all and all but I am exhausted.

I know that there are a lot of new faces in this thread due to general RSD hype, but it should be noted that absolutely nothing Tug has said on this forum has ever once proven to be true.  His account is typically banned 50% of the time, or more.  The lack of affection from his parent(s) and general poor life decisions have led him to crave attention on message boards, and it's best to just not feed into it.

As a few others have mentioned, I would say it's in your best interest to just "wait it out".  A 10,000-press is truly massive, and I foresee many copies oozing up through tiny shops and distros in the coming weeks.  As it was debated yesterday, you can maybe find a deal on one with diligent eBay searching, but I personally don't think that'll be the case at any point in the next 48-72 hours.  I haven't been monitoring that one on Discogs but I would add it to your Wantlist there, and keep on eye on available copies in their marketplace.  Bull Moose will be putting up overstock at 7 AM EST.  Turntable Lab and Banquet Records have a listing for it that you can subscribe to, where they'll e-mail you as soon as leftovers are put up.  But above all else, with that large of a run, I really do think you'll see some more sprout up from obscure distros.

Star Wars should be online tomorrow, it will also be in select stores (I dont have that list yet)

Yes, IMO it does need a separate thread.
Being a Junkie XL fan and/or Mad Max fan has little in common with OSTs from animated films like Box Trolls and Iron Giant or random old obscure OSTs like Black Sunday. I'm not sure why someone would be expected to follow an entire Mondo thread in the off chance that they may have a single release they might enjoy someday.
I like single band/artist threads but don't have the time to follow every thread for labels and genres that may have a release I'm interested in.
I purchased the It Follows OST but do I need to read 20 posts over how excited people are that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and a multitude of other releases I have zero interest in finally got pressed? No.

Well, I mean, really any number pressed is an unlimited press if you subscribe to quantum theory, in which there are an infinite number of universes, and some infinite amount of those universes are pressing Deja right now. So...y'know. Infinite Deja.

that's for orders the customer cancels, not SRC. or that's how it should be, at least.
 
because if you think about it, SRC could post fake preorders for a bunch of shit, solicit orders, pull the preorders down, cancel the orders and give everyone store credit, aka commit theft. so if they want to avoid legal trouble, they ought to just give me my damn money back.
