I hate VC. I really do. Someone new to vinyl comes along and asks a perfectly fine question and they get trampled on because you've figured out the answer years before. Instead of helping, you spend energy to make them feel bad. Coming here sucks.
 
It's a reasonable question because in higher-end vinyl, like the Misfits stuff I collect, shrink can make a real difference in the price.
 
To answer the question, I always remove shrink unless its a higher end record that I might resell.

Pennybridge Pioneers is one of the most underrated records to come out of that whole scene.

I've been using a pretty simple genre system for a while now, you guys are welcome to adopt it.
I categorize everything as "pretty good", "not too heavy" or "my wife likes it". Simplifies things.

I just want a one-sided "You Know You're Right" 7-inch.

I have ears like the rest of you. Maybe not ears trained on a $1000+ system but I know enough what kind of sound I want to get if I"m spending over $700 on music playing devices. Thanks for sharing your experience in helping me decide what pre-amps in this price range would give me close to what I want rather than insulting me. I appreciate it!

While I'm a fan of Doug Stanhope, he does not understand how rape jokes are different from diabetes jokes. Tosh straight up said it would be funny if this woman was gang raped by five dudes, in that moment. That is not funny at all. Threatening sexual violence on someone, regardless of context, is simply not okay. The problem with rape jokes is not that they push boundaries, but that they hold up a violent male hegemony, which is focused on maintaining male power over women. This effectively keeps women subject to male control.

After lurking around for a while, I decided to finally take the plunge on some gear. Bought a Debut Carbon and a Marantz PM6004. The Marantz is waiting for when I get home today, and the Debut should be in on Monday. Have a pair of Klipsch speakers that my parents gave to me. Not sure of the model. Ready to finally listen to my records on some decent stuff!
