With so much great music out there to consume.....why does anybody even know the different periods of Coldplay's discography?   Heard part of one song about a decade ago and immediately was done with it.

This new track isn't bad at all, I love it more than any single track off of King of Limbs

I think you heard wrong. My original copy of The Wall sounds excellent and better than any other version I've heard. The tempo and pitch are fine.

What is the point of a pressing database if there's no detailed information? Same question for Dead Format, I suppose. Taking a quick look at Dead Format, that site also seems useless for anyone whose collection goes beyond pop punk.

Someone on the Stevehoffman forums downloaded the exclusive sampler for the box set and said that they're brickwalled. I would hope the vinyl sounds good but if the past few reissues are anything to go by, that won't be the case.

I'll just keep waiting until I find a decently priced 80s pressing or for a reissue by MoFi or someone similar.

edit: well apparently Bernie Grundman did the vinyl so these might be good

I don't understand why Vinyl Collective is gets so anghsty about these type of threads.   This site is first and foremost, a site for music lovers.
Mine would be my copies of the Cunninlyguists' albums A Piece of Strange and Strange Journey Volume 3.  Good story behind them too.

Right before I started collecting vinyl, I saw A Piece of Strange and almost bought it while at a Cunninlyguists show.  It is by all accounts one of the best underground hip-hop albums of all time, and is pressed on a gorgeous green and black swirl.  They also and Strange Journey on a grey, pink haze.  A couple months later, I started buying wax and tried to tracking them done.  Thing is, the pressings I'd seen were not only the only time the albums had been issued, they were out of 1000 and only being sold on tour.   So I called my who was going to their Denver show and asked him to see if they still had them.  He reported back, it was a no-go.

Then Christmas came around and guess what was sitting under the tree for me.  Good brother, eh?   Those records now go for 200-250 dollars each.

itsgoodtobefree got a reaction from bobby in PO: Star Wars: The Force Awakens OST (John Williams) and Original Trilogy on Colored Vinyl
Eh, I disagree. It feels like the majority of the prequel trilogy is made up of characters having boring political discussions while sitting on couches or taking slow walks in front of a blue screen. That really isn't what makes Star Wars "Star Wars" for me.

Yes, you can pick certain parts out of the prequels that are okay, but I really do think they miss the point of why people loved the original movies in the first place. The originals had likable and memorable characters with actual personalities, a simple, yet effective plot, and lightsaber duels that actually had some meaning behind them. I mean I guess the Darth Maul fight was pretty well choreographed. But in the prequels, the lightsaber battles are just emotionless, perfectly-choreographed, pointless action scenes for the most part. The last fight in Episode III could have been excellent but it last forever and took place in the most ridiculous setting. That lava surfing part is just laughable.

Then jump to the new movie. Yes, the plot is kind of "safe" and some parts are obviously taken from A New Hope. But the execution is so right compared to the prequels. The cast is fantastic and I actually care about the characters. The comedic moments are actually funny. The pacing is excellent and it feels like something is actually happening throughout the whole movie. From a story standpoint, it's actually very simple, which is engaging! No convoluted plot about trade federation blockades. And the lightsaber fights actually have emotional weight behind them.

I'm going to have to see the movie again to give my full thoughts on the score. But the first minute of The Force Awakens feels more like Star Wars than the prequel trilogy ever did, in my opinion.
