Seafinch reacted to allenh in What's your latest purchase?
The beauty of these decks is that they are good from the start so you can take as long as you like to do it, I've not rewired that particular Thorens arm but rewiring any arm is the same in principle in that you use the old cable to pull the new through, you do it slowly and methodically and employ as much patience as you can muster, oh and be careful of the black ground cable as you are not replacing that and it's easy to break it's connection inside the arm.
The suspension is easy to set up and is identical in principle to a Linn, Ariston, AR etc etc. so find the early Linn set up manual on line and follow that but you shouldn't need to change it if it's sitting level or you change the arm. You can do the bounce test in that if you push down on the spindle then let go it should come back up as flat as it went down, if it wobbles about as it comes back up or you feel more resistance in one area as it goes down then you might need to look at the isolators at the top or bottom of the springs but all that's pretty obvious when you get the base plate off.
In terms of musicality to my ears with everything else equal a good suspended sub-chassis turntable wipes the floor with any un-suspended turntable no matter how expensive or how good it's supposed to be and yours can be a very very good suspended table, I also find it funny how many people I've spoken to who buy a brand new Project or similar and replace it with a good vintage table and say how much better it is, there's nothing new in hifi and I've never understood how they sell so many of these new tables when there are so many much better old tables out there for less money. Each to their own I suppose.

Seafinch got a reaction from bungie in Bad/Disappointing Pressings
No offense to any of the people think this thread is "stupid", but you don't have to read it.
In the first post I mentioned that this is based on opinion. I listen to music on a pretty revealing system so really noisy pressings, or flat/boring pressings are not worth listening to for me. This is no ways meant to be the Bible in regards to bad pressings, just people posting opinions and helpful info.
I just bought the new Hayden record, Hey Love, and it's a bummer how noisy the pressing is, not pops and crackles, but full on tearing sound that makes it near unlistenable. I'm hoping it's just my copy, but I think it's worth mentioning.
Also, I'll be updating the list soon, had a hectic holiday weekend so I'm catching up on some stuff.

Been working on this garage conversion for a few months and it's finally done (for the most part). My setup in here is...
Clearaudio Concept w/ Clearaudio Artist V2 Cartridge
Graham Slee Era Gold V Phono
Marantz PM6005 Integrated
EPOS Epic 2 Speakers (these are being sent back, due to a funny rattle in one of them - thinking I'm going to go with the Wharfedale Denton's as they're sold out of the Epic 2's)

180g black. I loved how they packaged it, silly trinkets in the shipping box. Some minor corner dings. Vinyl is nice and heavy. Some initial dust present. Did a light cleaning. I'm getting general surface noise. Very dynamic music, great tones, I think it is extremely well balanced. Overall, loving it. Interested in other opinions.

I'm not sure whether you are a real person trying to convey an idea, or if you are some sort of bot stringing together associated words into sentence form.

Kitsune was more shoegazey (with some psych, postrock, & several other genres in there) to me than Salome.
Love everything ERR has been involved in. Her vocals on Salome seem to hearken back to The Nocturnes: 'A Year Of Spring' .
My personal favorite is Aokigahara which is a dreamy folk-gaze album - and she uses about 5 different vocal styles on that one, accompanied by male vocals on many tracks. My most treasured gem that no one wants to talk about.
