  1. Saw these guys last month in OKC with AAR, Motion City Soundtrack and The Get Up Kids. They opened the show with "All Down Hill From Here" and I realized just how much I loved that song and this album. Being a freshman in high school when it came out probably had something to do with it too. Anyways, glad I picked this up.

PS - I had no idea Chad had cancer. Bummer. Dan from Four Year Strong was filling in for him and did so good.

Ok, there's your shinfo comment for the day everyone!

I know there's crickets over here but I'm curious what people think about this. I've seen barely any buzz about it anywhere.

So, I really enjoyed the singles leading up to the release. And then on release day I saw a bunch of posts across social media saying it was 'banger after banger after banger', and various other praise. So I was a bit hyped to pick up a copy at my local shop on Saturday.

The wife and I listened on Sunday and...idk I wasn't impressed. I honestly can't remember any of the songs from it other than the ones I already knew. So a bit underwhelming in my opinion.

This record has more BCR flavour than any of their post-Untitled material, and I am fucking here for it. Got the indie exclusive and it’s pristine.

    Agreed!

Got my Spotify variant Saturday and was able to spin it for the first time last night. Here are my thoughts:

    • "Edging" made a lot more sense within the context of the album, but it's still one of, if not my least fav song.
    • My pressing was super hot, and when turned up past -20dB, it SCREAMED. High five to whoever mixed/mastered. Though, did anyone else experience some weird loss of fidelity and bass during "You Don't Know What You've Got"?
    • Some of Travis' stylistic choices with his own drums is probably my biggest gripe. As a drummer, and one who idolized Travis growing up, it seems he decided to gloss over his signature sound quite a bit on this album. The parts themselves, for the majority of the record, are completely Barker-esque, but the production choices on the snare sound and some of the flange effects on fills really bothered me. It's not every song, but most seem so polished it sounds like programmed drums. This could also be the overuse of triggers/samples too. Idk it's probably a niche gripe, but it's one that, to me, was completely unnecessary given his track record.

it's really boring.  It's just a not as good version of ETID, so I'll just listen to ETID.  Better Lovers is bringing something different to the table, it doesn't feel like ETIDv2.

Optimistic that maybe that's because he's trying to hook the ETID fans? Maybe the next song will branch out into something more interesting?

Thought the same thing. And maybe that's unfair to certain extent since vocals will always be a major key in what we think about when we hear a new project. But Better Lovers jus seemed a bit more fresh imo.

Also, am I the only one that thought it was a bit cringe with all the "The Return of Keith Buckley" marketing? Maybe I'm wrong, but it just felt like Better Lovers came out of nowhere and let the music talk. Whereas this was more 'hey everyone looks it's me Keith and two dudes' hahahaha

Were these really $30 on the tour? Cheaper than discogs currently.

Sounds like they were only been part of the VIP package originally.

Possibly, I went to the OKC date, and there was a separate table setup next to the merch booth with the split and tour posters.

I'm shocked I'm actually interested for once. Mainly just Turnstile and Kim Petras but I may pick up some others.

Can we all at least agree on how cool it is that Turnstile is officially a big band, since they can now issue 3-song EP's for RSD? 😜

Also, Linkin Park meant a lot to me, so I'll probably stroll into my local shop around noon and grab the 'Lost' Demos LP. Still so crazy that it wasn't included with the Super Deluxe Boxset earlier this year.

I feel like people will back any new Blink stuff regardless of how underwhelming it is just because it's back to Mark, Tom and Travis...

This is probably true to a certain extent. But I honestly don't think I see a lot of that here. I could be wrong tho

"Edging" was pretty cringeworthy to say the least and both new songs they released today aren't anything special to write home about, though both are lightyears ahead of the first single, that's for sure... I feel like Blink kinda fell off after TOYPAJ

I'd agree "Edging" was not my favorite and I was pretty skeptical about the eventual album at the time because of that single. But "One More Time" and "More Than You Know" are both great tracks. Are they on the level as freaking "Rock Show" or "Stay Together For the Kids"? Of course not. I'd think most here don't expect blink from 2001 ever again. But we'll make do with glimpses of 2003 blink...

To preface: I'm an addict for dramatics...

"One More Time" got me feeling some kind of way. Seeing them revisit all those videos and knowing every single one, coupled with the lyrics (and not to mention a great song to boot), was just really touching. Also, is that Travis singing too????? Very cool. "More Than You Know" was giving me strong self-titled vibes and I'm all here for it.

IMO, these are miles ahead from "Edging", and man am I glad. Cant wait for October 20th!!

  10. Grabbed a splatter.

Still can’t believe it’s finally happening. I actually ended up finding an OG 7” single at the Austin Record Convention in May, so having a brand new copy to compare will be neat. $50 is steep, but not for my all time white whale and one of my all time favorite movies which was a seminal moment for me as a musician.
