  1. The clip from the new song is just kinda meh (I was hoping they were gonna come out with a reunion album that was more akin to Boxcar Racer but with more production ala Untitled, especially given Mark's struggle with the big C), but I don't wanna write it off till I hear the whole song. In all fairness mainstream rock doesn't really exist anymore so Blink can kinda do whatever they want, with that being said, Edging sounds '22 as hell, this is neither an insult or a compliment lol

  2. The song The Days (my favorite on the album), kinda reinforces this idea.

    "Wasting, waiting for this invitation
As I drip into the horror

But I'm saving up everything I said for my remorseful days
Laying with my children with silence on my breath

    ****

While I'm drinking all the rain
    Wasting, waiting for this revelation
As I crack through the floor

But I'm writing down everything you say for my dementia days
Laying with my children with whiskey on my breath"

  3. Having spent more time with this record I get the feeling this is a concept album about being diagnosed with alzheimer's? Any time the word "drift" is mentioned it seems like it's in this context. Pair, the last song on the album takes place in a hospital, contrasting how both birth and death occur in the same building.

I also here mention of someone named Lou. I'm not sure if this is a character in a story or someone close to the band that struggled with an illness?

Ok, I'm pretty bummed at the amount of excitement this release is generating, so just wanted to post. Thanks a ton to Fat for taking care of business and getting this thing pressed. This is an absolutely badass album that I thought was going to be on my "want but will probably never happen" album list forever (especially after the box set came out without this included). The cover versions on here are pretty much all better than the versions by the actual other band's recordings of them. I am a little annoyed like an old man that the press blurb for this everywhere says it came out in 2006 when it came out in 2001 and was a super important bridge between Bad Astronaut's first and second album which seemed like it took forever, so we heard Armchair Martian's version of Bad Astronaut songs before the Bad Astronaut versions. This is some prime Joey Cape songwriting years back when he didn't post anything online so you never knew what the fuck his plans were or if Lagwagon were even going to be a band anymore. Anyways, yelling out into the internetverse how stoked I am for this one, and again thanks to Fat for putting out something that might not be the number 1 selling record of the year, but means a lot to plenty of people nonetheless.

It's the best split EP ever recorded.

It would be incredibly fucking rad if Fat pressed other Armchair Martian releases, at least Who Wants To Play Bass? and get the rights for Good Guys... Bad Band from Virgil (Suburban Home) since that included all their earlier releases (but was a CD/mp3 only release).

  5. I'm purging all my gear. Trying to buy the bass of my dreams that I'll use for the rest of my life. If anyone here is interested shoot me an offer via Reverb (also eBay but had to increase the prices there for their bigger cut, can give you those links via DM) and we can work something out.

Is this message board still really active?

I was thinking about unloading a bunch of records.

I used to be pretty active around here.

Nah, records have been Happy Meal-ified, and you can't visit these boards without getting your ass blasted by 6 million pop-ups. People just use Reddit these days cause all they care about are records that look like a box of melted crayons or ultra hyper major label releases on their 95th pressing.

Regardless, I remember you from back in the day. Hope all is well. Pray for us.

He is right.  It’s definitely subjective.  With that said, >90% of anyone who cares about colored vinyl would probably insist muh splatter is the most exciting variant out there. 🥱

Partner, No Idea Rec. split color variants from 2008 were enough excitement for me (and it turns out a lot of people hated these lol).

Out of all the things that annoy me about collecting records in the year of our lord 2022, a lack of wacky variants in my collection isn't on the list. I just enjoy a simple color-in-color or split color record here and there.

Fuckin' coke bottle green would've been a more exciting variant than tan for this release, but c'est la vie.

Can we confirm what a not boring variant is? Are we expecting wax mages and hyper-uber-super-duper splatters for every release? Don't get me wrong I'm not judging, i just don't get it. I'm always looking for a solid color variant which matches the artwork the best. So red it is, if the other songs are better.

No, we can't. It's subjective. Just because I think a solid mute color like tan, grey, or white, is "boring" doesn't mean I also pine over rainbow puke dumbass /100 wax vessel releases. It's really not a big a deal whatsoever, certainly doesn't warrant a full blown conversation about it 😂
