"84 Tigers is a new band with some familiar faces from the Michigan punk/post-hardcore scene: Mike and Ben Reed of Small Brown Bike and Jono Diener of The Swellers. They formed in 2021 after Mike sent a batch of demos to Ben and Jono, and Jono had this to say about the band's formation: "The pandemic changed the way we all looked at music. For once it wasn't about the next tour, or the next show. We had to laser focus on the music, so that's exactly what we did."

This record is so fuckin' good, and makes me feel like an idiot for sleeping on Big Thief up until now. I've already gone back and bought their first record (which is also great!), where should I go next?

UFOF is probably my favorite album by them, follow that up with Two Hands since they're essentially companion albums, the former being more "wet" and tranquil, the latter more "dry" and barren.

Gotta say, personally I’m not going to buy  eco vinyl at all anymore - sounds terrible I think.

Great album but the eco pressing is rough.

I got one of the eco pressings. Records are a higher weight than usual (not 180g, maube 160g or 170g), also really like how the artwork looks on the recycled sleeve. Have yet to listen to it but it doesn't seem like they half assed this or cut any corners.

  4. Didn't see a PO thread for their new album Sweet Tooth and figured we could discuss it here. Has anyone else been listening to it? Mom Jeans didn't click with me until last year. I enjoy Best Buds quite a bit, Puppy Love not so much, but this new record is surprisingly good. You can tell Bart took the reigns with a lot of the song writing because it sounds more like a companion to the latest Graduating Life record than to their previous LP. It'd make sense that's why he's wrapping up GL, probably putting more effort into MJ because they've given him more control over writing. I'm just spit balling, but yeah, Sweet Tooth is a cool album. Pre-ordered a yellow/blue copy from Wax Bodega but it hasn't shipped 😕

I liked the last couple Cursive albums when they came out but recently went back to register to them and didn't love them. They're still fine I guess, but not as good as I remembered.

Those records stink. Pandering nonsense relevant to the time of their release only. Neither will age even half as well as anything they did prior to I Am Gemini (their fall from grace IMO). I have more faith in this solo album than I ever will in another Cursive record, which sucks because they were once a band I swore by 😕

  6. Another year full of boomer and semi-novelty mainstream tripe that will be available for several years after the fact on clearance no less.

It's nuts to think there was a time bands like OFF!, Luther, AJJ, and Dads would put out RSD stuff, these last 5 years are straight up directed at people who think Wal-Mart Exclusive pressings are something they should collect.

Ian Rees brought it up. lol

I'm not singling anyone out cause talking about covid is tired as hell anyways. All I'm asking is this discussion either goes to the appropriate thread or we "curb the spread" of bickering and "lockdown" this thread.

The report queue is getting lit up and y'all and fucking up my night off work. Please chill dawgz!
